Overview

We are a cloud-native observability platform with AIOps capabilities seeking a Senior Engineering Manager - Marketplace to spearhead our new e-commerce initiatives. In this role, you will build and scale a marketplace initially focused on internal product SKUs, with plans to incorporate third-party integrations. You will lead a small engineering team (4-5 engineers) – hiring and mentoring team members as needed – and drive both the technical architecture and business success of our marketplace offering. This position offers the opportunity to shape the marketplace from the ground up, defining best practices for high availability, security, and scalability in a modern cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect & Develop the Marketplace: Design and implement a scalable, high-performance marketplace platform that supports the company’s internal SKUs (product offerings) and is extensible to third-party integrations in the future.
  • Technical Leadership & Team Management: Lead a small engineering team of 4-5 developers, providing mentorship and guidance. Take responsibility for hiring and scaling the team as the marketplace grows.
  • Roadmap Ownership: Own the technical roadmap for the marketplace. Balance strategic business objectives with pragmatic engineering execution, ensuring timely delivery of features that drive value.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, UX/design, and go-to-market teams to define requirements and prioritize features. Translate business needs into technical solutions and ensure alignment across departments.
  • High Availability & Reliability: Ensure the marketplace’s transaction processing systems are highly available and fault-tolerant. Implement monitoring and observability best practices to maintain uptime and performance.
  • Payment Integration: Build and optimize integrations with payment platforms (such as Stripe) to handle billing, subscriptions, and transactions seamlessly. Ensure that payment workflows are secure and user-friendly.
  • Security & Compliance: Design and implement best practices for security, data privacy, and compliance (e.g., PCI DSS) in a cloud-native environment. Regularly review and update the system architecture to protect customer and transaction data.
  • Cloud-Native Architecture: Leverage distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures to build a robust marketplace. Work across AWS and Azure cloud infrastructures, utilizing Kubernetes or similar technologies for deployment, and Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code for environment management.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong Software Engineering Background: 8+ years of software development experience with a proven track record. Hands-on proficiency in Kotlin or Go is desired, as these are the primary languages used in our services.
  • Distributed Systems & Cloud Expertise: Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures. Experience building and operating scalable microservices in production (preferably on AWS and/or Azure). Familiarity with observability platforms and practices (logging, monitoring, tracing) is essential.
  • E-Commerce/Transactional Systems: Demonstrated experience developing e-commerce or transaction processing systems. Comfortable with payment gateways and financial workflows – experience with Stripe or similar payment platforms is highly preferred.
  • Team Leadership & Scaling: Proven ability to lead and grow an engineering team. Experience hiring engineers, mentoring developers, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance team culture. Strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate across departments.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in complex technical environments. Capable of making informed, high-impact decisions about architecture and design, and adept at prioritizing tasks for maximum business impact.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Domain Experience: Background in observability, monitoring, or AIOps platforms. Understanding the unique challenges and opportunities in the observability/AIOps domain will help drive marketplace relevance and innovation.
  • Marketplace Ecosystems: Familiarity with third-party marketplace dynamics, integrations, and ecosystem building. Experience in establishing APIs or developer platforms for third parties to integrate their offerings is a plus.
  • DevOps & Infrastructure: Experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes), and managing infrastructure with code (Terraform or similar tools). Comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices to ensure smooth deployment and operations.
  • This is a high-impact role at the intersection of technology and business. The ideal candidate is both a visionary architect and a hands-on leader who can drive the marketplace initiative from concept to reality. If you are passionate about building platforms that scale, fostering talented engineering teams, and shaping the future of cloud-native observability with e-commerce integration, we encourage you to apply.
