About ProBio

ProBio proactively provides end-to-end CDMO service from drug discovery to commercialization with proactive strategies, professional solutions and efficient processes in cell and gene therapy (CGT), vaccine, biologics discovery and antibody protein drug to accelerate drug development for customers. ProBio’s total cell and gene therapy solution covers CMC of plasmid and virus for IND filing as well as clinical manufacturing and commercial manufacturing. In terms of plasmid service, ProBio supports the most clinical approvals for CGT drugs including mRNA vaccines, CAR-T in China. Job Scope:

Hands-on mechanical engineer responsible for component and system level (mechanical, fluidic) designs of DNA synthesis instruments and accessories. Excited to take development designs through bread board, prototype and production release.   Provide mechanical engineering support as a member of engineering development teams with responsibilities for concept design, documentation, procedures, creating tests and methods, component/system assembly, and component/system testing.  Assist the team in meeting its goals and in supporting development in other areas.  Work closely with vendors (3D printing services, CNC machine shops, sheet metal fabricators) to fabricate designs.

Location: Redmond, WA

Report to: Sr. Manager of Engineering

 

Key Responsibilities: include, but are not limited, to the following as other duties may be assigned.

  • Systems design incorporating custom fluidic components (reaction chambers, valves, manifolds, pumps), electronic components (PCB) and off-the-shelf sensors/module/devices. Designs and develops mechanical/fluidic components, subsystems, systems, test plans, etc., to support DNA synthesizer instrument development and associated activities.
  • Component design of fluidic devices (manifolds, reaction chambers) and DNA microarray packages.
  • Development of assembly processes, including assembly fixtures, selection of materials, and process documentation.
  • Coordinating transfer of new designs from development to production.
  • Interface with other team members in engineering, software, R&D and applications. Communicates designs through standard engineering documents, technical drawings and CAD data.
  • Coordinate fabrication of designs with local/domestic/overseas CNC prototyping facilities.
  • Equipment owner of 3D printers, mini milling / lathe machines.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
  • Proficiency with CAD software required. Experience with SolidWorks preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of mechanical design experience in product development environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Designing products and equipment in the life science, biotechnology or medical device industries beneficial.
  • Familiarity with fluidic handling instrumentation desirable.
