Job Description

 Are you looking for a part-time (2 days per week) position in a dynamic and highly international work environment? Optiver is currently looking for a student to support the Middle Office team with controlling trading expenses.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Middle Office plays a key role in facilitating our trading activities by making sure we are in control of all the drivers of the trading result, as well as by providing business support throughout the life cycle of a trade.

As Middle Office Assistant, you will be part of a team of experienced professionals that work closely with our traders and other stakeholders, both inside and outside of the organization. You will be assisting the team with controlling our trading expenses. Given the high volume of transactions and the complexity of the expenses, accuracy and timeliness are key. You will be the main contact for the trading desks on the one hand, as well as our external stakeholders such as brokers and exchanges on the other. As such we are looking for someone that brings a mindset that is both inquisitive and innovative in nature. The extent of your responsibilities will depend entirely on your ability to absorb new information and demonstrate consistent reliability in execution. You’ll primarily be responsible for:

  • Conducting monthly reconciliations of broker invoices against internal trading records to ensure accuracy and alignment with executed trades.
  • Validating all fees based on agreed-upon fee schedules established between traders, brokers, and the Middle Office.
  • Enhancing the reconciliation process through proactive collaboration with brokers, traders, and internal teams, while continuously optimizing workflows for greater efficiency.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
  • Available for a minimum of 16 hours per week..
  • Proven record of academic excellence.
  • A detail-oriented and analytical mindset.
  • A keen interest in programming and database querying languages such as Python and PostgreSQL, and in putting these skills to use to automate tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
