The Senior Software Development Manager will lead a team of senior technologists and multiple software development teams responsible for the Network Edge Services, a critical part of the Prime Video's architecture. The Network Edge Services play a pivotal role in providing core capabilities that enable the Prime Video backend services to function reliably and securely at scale. Your team will be part of the larger READI organization, which is responsible for keeping Prime Video Secure, Available, Fast and Efficient.

This role requires an experienced technical leader who can drive the strategic vision and roadmap for the Network Edge Services, while also ensuring high availability, security, efficiency and usability for the high throughput services that make up the Network Edge Services Platform.

This leader will drive strategy, alignment, and execution to improve availability, security, and efficiency for all Prime Video services through centralized edge solutions for tackling undifferentiated heavy lifting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in distributed systems, software architecture, and team leadership.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of technical leadership in building and operating mission-critical distributed systems at scale. They will also demonstrate strong people management skills, the ability to drive cross-team alignment, and a customer-centric mindset.

Key job responsibilities
Develop and communicate the strategic vision and roadmap for the Network Edge Services platform, in alignment with the broader Prime Video architecture and roadmap

Lead a team of software engineers to design, implement, and operate the Network Edge Services, to deliver on the vision for Availability, Security and Efficiency for Prime Video

Ensure the Network Edge Services platform maintains high availability, security, and usability for the critical Prime Video services they support

Collaborate with other teams in the Prime Video to optimize the end-to-end architecture and delineate responsibilities between teams

Drive initiatives to simplify the core logic of traffic ingress, routing, location services, failure DDoS protection, and improve external API contracts

Establish and track key performance metrics for the Network Edge services, including availability, latency, and cost, and effectiveness.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and effective software engineering practices within the team

A day in the life
Review and provide feedback on engineering designs, and release plans

Meet with engineering managers and team leads to discuss progress, unblock issues, and align on priorities

Participate in architectural and design discussions, providing technical guidance and feedback

Manage the team's priorities, quarterly planning, and resource allocation

Collaborate with other senior leaders in Prime Video to align on goals and initiatives

Communicate the team's progress and plans to relevant stakeholders, including product owners and executives

Monitor key performance metrics and work with the team to identify and address any issues

Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive engineering culture through mentorship, feedback, and team-building activities- Experience in planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
- Experience in engineering
