As a Transportation Engineering Services (TES) Project Engineer within Engineering, Planning, and Solutions (EPS), you will lead and manage a program involving the development of design and integral standards for all conveyance, automated sorters, and parcel handling equipment throughout North America’s Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) network. As part of the middle mile engineering team, you will work primarily with bulk and singulated parcel handling equipment, and manage contracted partners to consistently deliver the next generation of sortation and distribution solutions. You will manage programs that include new builds, retrofits of existing facilities, and expansion of existing facilities. In addition to design, you will oversee multiple project timelines at any given time, multi-million dollar budgets, and supply chain to ensure high quality systems are delivered on-time to meet growing customer demand. You will be tasked with supporting field projects by traveling to sites. Furthermore, you will be involved with forming solutions to tackle challenging and complex problems by leading, from beginning to end, initiatives that drive improvements on a network level. In doing so, you will develop business cases and work with various stakeholders to incorporate new elements into designs for multiple systems to improve maintenance, safety, and performance of Amazon’s new and existing systems.
Key competencies of this position include understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls framework for parcel handling equipment, ability to navigate 2D layouts and 3D models, fluency in English, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to organize and lead multi-stakeholder meetings, and ability to quickly tackle ambiguous problems with limited information.
