The Team:

The Data Integration team is responsible for managing the data ingestion and integration platforms, building optimized data models for external CRM system integrations, handling real-time data synchronization, and enhancing self-serve capabilities to speed up delivery. The team collaborates closely with the Data Platform team to ensure seamless integration across systems. 

The role:

As the Engineering Manager for the Data Integration team, you will lead a team of software and data engineers who manage the data ingress/egress systems, administer the Data Integration Platform, and handle real-time data transformations & integrations. Reporting to the Director of Data, you will also partner with the team’s Technical Program Manager to prioritize initiatives and collaborate on building quarterly roadmaps.

A key aspect of this role is managing the team’s performance, supporting individual growth, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and scaling the team as needed.  You will also play a key role in shaping technical decisions, collaborating with technical leads, principals, and distinguished engineers.

The Manager, Data Engineering will:

• Be committed to the success of your people. You will help them set goals, have regular 1-on-1s, and provide constructive feedback and coaching to ensure your team's success. You’ll work to understand employees’ career direction and work to empower their journey by acting as a mentor and coach. 
• Develop a world-class team alongside a world-class organization. You’ll participate in recruiting events and the hiring process while also working to level up your internal team while implementing new processes.
• Remove roadblocks and build guardrails. You’ll work with the other leaders to create and maintain an environment where people can rapidly produce top-quality work that ultimately helps our customers be successful.
• Collaborate with Machine Learning, Data Platform, Product Development, Revenue Operation and Go-To-Market teams to drive initiatives and help deliver the best solutions in Jobber for small businesses.

To be successful, you should have:

• A proven track record as a software/data engineer, as well as time spent in a leadership role guiding a team to deliver high-quality software.
• A strong foundation in software/data engineering, including expertise in software design, familiarity with data tools and technologies (including SQL), hands-on experience in systems design,and a deep understanding of data best practices and modeling techniques. 
• The ability to be agile in an agile environment. You’ll need to be able to lead and teach your team to adapt to change, while also thinking critically and creatively to find answers to problems.
• Effective written and oral communication. Being transparent with your team and establishing an open dialogue will be a key to success in supporting your coaching conversations and discussions.
• Collaboration down to an art. You’ll work with your direct reports or other teams to understand what they want to accomplish and develop a plan to achieve it.
• To be a leader and mentor. You’ll bring your shared experience into conversations to influence and provide constructive feedback to direct reports throughout the journey to ensure goals are being met and exceeded.

Highly desired, but not a dealbreaker:

• Previous experience with our development stack: Ruby on Rails, Python and scripting
• Previous experience in Data Integration with CRM systems (Salesforce/Hubspot)
• Previous experience working with event driven systems and message queues
