Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience with cloud native architecture and database technologies in a customer-facing or support role.
- Experience serving in the capacity of a pre-sales, customer-facing field engineering people manager capacity leading a multi-regional team.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in building product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept planning and execution, and the coordination and prioritization of solutions impacting customer adoption of database solutions.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies, with the ability to position a database for customer’s application use case.
- Knowledge of application development, runtime platforms, and related technologies.
- Ability to build and maintain competitive positioning information for cloud and on-prem databases.
- Ability to craft an audience-tailored message.

As a Customer Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of pre-sales engineers who engage with sales prospects, discover and assess customer requirements, prepare and present demonstrations and POCs of Google’s Cloud database services, and address and overcome technical objections that arise throughout the process.

- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Engineering (CE) management to determine proper staffing levels to support business goals, establish job requisitions, and lead interview teams to fill open positions.
- Identify gaps in CE technical preparedness, and build plans to ensure the CE team is properly trained and equipped to perform in support of business goals.
- Work with Google Cloud Sales team leadership to identify, qualify, and prioritize coverage for opportunities, create messaging and offers, and participate in periodic opportunity review meetings to create and drive action plans on how to secure technical success.
- Work with the sales account team, customer support, product management, customer solutions, and engineering to resolve product problems affecting pre- and post-sales customer satisfaction.
- Travel up to 50% of the time as needed.
