Your role

Help build the future of AI-powered business communications at Dialpad. The Dialpad Design team is an integral part of Dialpad’s success. We’re quickly scaling our team, assembling a world-class team of curious problem solvers who are passionate about keeping humans first in this new age of AI technology. Dialpad is seeking a Design Manager to lead and inspire a team of talented designers delivering exceptional experiences across our products. The Dialpad Design team is a growing, essential part of the company’s success—and we’re looking for a collaborative leader to help us deepen our impact by elevating design quality, fostering professional growth, and championing customer-first thinking. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of a dynamic design team, mentor designers globally, and make a lasting impact on a product used by millions worldwide.

What you’ll do

  • Build a positive, inclusive environment that motivates designers to deliver high-quality experiences and align their efforts with company-level strategic goals.
  • Provide mentorship, feedback, and support for designers to reach their career goals, empowering them to thrive and grow into future leaders.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure alignment, provide feedback on prioritization and roadmapping, and support your team in delivering impactful, on-time work.
  • Guide exceptional design work through clear feedback, thoughtful critiques, and effective coaching. Ensure the team’s work consistently meets and exceeds quality standards.
  • Help frame projects within the context of company and product goals, identifying opportunities to address key business metrics and competitive advantages.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to translate strategy into actionable product direction. Facilitate system and concept design to align with Dialpad’s principles and customer needs.

Skills you’ll bring

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in software product design.
  • At least 2 years of people management experience, leading teams of 3-5 designs with a proven ability to develop talent and maintain team engagement.
  • Multiple documented examples of leading teams to deliver exceptional, impactful, and delightful work that drives measurable business success.
  • Deep understanding of design principles, product strategy, and customer-centric thinking to create innovative and effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, driving alignment across Product, Engineering, and Marketing partners.
  • A player-coach mentality, with the ability to mentor designers while stepping in to directly contribute when needed.

Extra-special candidate will have:

  • Experience working with business applications or AI-powered SaaS products.
  • Active engagement with the design community through writing, speaking, or open-source contributions.
  • Strong understanding of the communication, sales, or contact center software market.
