About the team

Dialpad’s Microservices Platform team develops common cloud microservice infrastructure, libraries and tooling for the engineering org. This includes a web services framework for our cloud based serverless apps, services like cache, datastore, and text search as well as all the tools and frameworks needed to deploy microservices to the public cloud.

Our common infrastructure allows  the other engineering teams to effectively build and maintain cloud native products and services at scale.

Your role

As an Engineering Manager, Microservices Platform, you’ll own future roadmaps of the common services our microservices and cloud applications depend on. You’ll work closely with other Dialpad engineering teams to understand their needs and pain points and determine the best infrastructure roadmap to stay ahead of those. In addition, you’ll help improve our serverless apps scalability, resiliency, and reduce infrastructure costs.

This position reports to our Sr. Manager and has the opportunity to be based in our Buenos Aires, Argentina Office.

What you’ll do

  • You’ll have direct reports ranging from mid-level to highly experienced engineers, and will support their performance and career growth through regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Work closely with other engineering managers and senior engineers on the team to create a 1 to 3 year roadmap & vision for the team.
  • Assist in evaluating technical design & architecture documents and proposals on an ongoing basis, in anticipation of increased scale and ever-evolving technology to meet the demands of rapidly growing business needs.
  • Work with geographically distributed peers including engineering managers, senior engineers and other stakeholders in order to align on engineering-wide priorities.
  • Own large projects end-to-end including requirements gathering, planning, resource allocation, and execution.
  • Drive effective engineering processes and policies.
  • Scale the team by recruiting candidates from diverse backgrounds.
  • Get hands on when necessary and assist with writing code, providing feedback on technical implementations & conducting architectural and code reviews.

Skills you’ll bring

  • 1+ years experience as a technical leader or engineering manager.
  • 8+ years professional experience as an engineer or engineering leader.
  • Hiring & interviewing skills.
  • Onboarding & mentorship experience.
  • Experience working with Microservices, Serverless Architectures a plus.
  • Experience working with Containerization and Orchestration, in the Cloud a plus.
