About the Role
Responsible for ensuring all distribution centers across Canada have the appropriate volume of inventory (both ingredients and packaging inputs) required to complete weekly production. This role takes both forecasted and in-week changes in demand into consideration when creating a purchasing strategy, and the Sr. Manager is responsible to liaison with the Inventory, Inbound Logistics, and Supply Planning teams to ensure this strategy is optimized. The Sr. Manager is responsible for the procure-to-pay process, liaising with accounts payable.
What you will be doing:
- Lead the Purchasing department to execute the weekly purchasing plan across the HelloFresh, Chef’s Plate, and Factor brands, and four production locations. Makes decisions and drive resolutions to issues impacting day-to-day operations with minimal supervision.
- Ensures cost-effective purchasing through optimizing buffers and ordering schedules to minimize waste.
- Oversee team of Operational Buyers and Purchasing Managers Team located across Canada and is responsible for providing support for seven-day-a-week operations. Note: Team members are located both at distribution centers and at HQ
- Guide continuous improvement activities within department and with cross-functional teams within Procurement and within the broader operation (i.e. process design and improvement, leading key efficiency initiatives, etc)
- Act as key business user and subject matter expert for procurement technology and tools, including scoping improvements & efficiencies, and leading change management activities across the purchasing team for new rollouts.
- Responsible for ensuring inventory is available for production across three DCs (BC, AB, ON), including the flow and transit of inventory through our third-party logistics partners (i.e. offsite inventory storage). The Sr. Manager owns controls and checks to validate that inventory is available in full and in quality for the assembly of meals.
- Maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders, communicate information effectively and in a timely manner, and participate in various weekly pre-production planning meetings and post-production reviews.
- Partner with Category Managers and Supply Planners to understand SKU, sourcing, and stocking strategy. Provide feedback on what is working well and where opportunity exists to decrease the costs, time and resources required to source, plan, and purchase ingredients.
- Manage the procure-to-pay process, making sure the invoice payment process is efficient and that suppliers receive payment on-time. Lead recovery and tracking of claims and disputes with suppliers.
- Select and develop talent for the Purchasing team; ensure each team member has a personal development plan and each role is a part of a career progression framework
- Work on ad-hoc improvement projects; other duties as assigned.
At a minimum, you have:
- University degree in Supply Chain or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years experience in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Purchasing / Procurement. 2-4 years in a management capacity.
- Proficiency in computer applications / software (Google Sheets, Excel) complemented with exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments, while being able to prioritize, achieve objectives, and meet deadlines
- An ownership mindset and ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Proven team player, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proven project management experience including demonstrated change management competency
