Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in employee relations/investigations, gained in either an HRBP role, Employee Relations Advisory role, or equivalent experience as an employment attorney practicing employment law.

Preferred qualifications:

  • JD with employment law focus, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience advising on a wide range of employee relations issues, including reorganizations and performance issues.
  • Experience with stakeholder management in a global organization.
  • Experience conducting the full life-cycle of workplace concerns or investigations.
  • Ability to operate with empathy, and diffuse/de-escalate challenging conversations/situations and to navigate ambiguity and complexity.
  • Excellent investigation, interview techniques, communication, problem-solving, and writing skills.

As an Employee Relations Partner in the Workplace Concerns Practice Area, you will rely on your expertise in applicable employment law and best practices to interpret and apply Google policy to provide consultative services to aid in the resolution of workplace concerns Your responsibilities include conducting thorough intakes with Googlers with care and empathy while keeping the Googler experience and an intersectional lens in mind, identifying the policies implicated, engaging the appropriate partners, gathering the information necessary and ensuring a timely resolution. You may also have the opportunity to support investigations of harassment, discrimination and retaliation. This is an individual contributor role.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$191,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Review and resolve employee concerns that include unfair treatment in the performance, promotion, and pay processes, or potential violations of Google’s standards of conduct, to ensure fair treatment of all Googlers.
  • Utilize best practice investigation interview techniques to gather all pertinent information and synthesize the information using credibility factors. 
  • Partner with Employee Relations investigators and support Partner Investigations (i.e. Ethics and Compliance, Internal Audit), which may include note taking, advising, drafting, and delivering discipline. Collaborate across teams, regions and time zones.
  • De-escalate and resolve matters as appropriate using empathetic listening and conflict resolution skills. Communicate clear guidance and coaching to Googlers, POps partners, management.
  • Draft summaries and recommendations to document and resolve complex issues and advice as necessary.
