Data Strategist

THE ROLE:

WorldQuant is seeking an exceptional individual to join the firm as a Data Strategist. The person in this role will source new datasets, which will be instrumental in generating new trading signals (alphas), and manage relationships with data providers. A successful candidate will partner closely with our researchers and portfolio managers to gain a strong understanding of their data needs and requirements, and subsequently coordinate with vendors, legal, compliance, and the data engineering teams to facilitate data onboarding and procurement. To discover new sources of valuable data, this person will establish relationships with vendors, participate in industry events and conferences, and conduct in-depth research leveraging data exchanges, industry publications, and sell-side research.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• Degree in economics, finance or other business-related discipline from a top university
• 5+ years of experience in working with data (structured, unstructured and alternative data), and interacting with data providers
• Knowledge of the global financial data landscape, sell-side banks, financial instruments, data marketplaces, industry lexicon and the quantitative investment process
• Experience negotiating terms of service and contracts (particularly data licensing agreements)
• Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form, and strong organizational skills
• Ability to interact effectively with investment and data engineering teams, and other internal stakeholders
• Strong work ethic with the ability to operate in a collaborative, team-oriented culture
• Knowledge of basic statistics and data science

WorldQuant is a total compensation organization where you will be eligible for a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and benefits. The estimated salary range for this position is $125,000 to $175,000 which is specific to New York and may change in the future. When finalizing an offer we will take into consideration an individual’s experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
