Job Description

The Senior Data Services Analyst (Tax & Fees) role offers a fantastic opportunity for an expert in automotive retailing to advance their career within a growing software organization. As a Senior Data Services Analyst, you will join a team of subject matter experts responsible for the accuracy of Tekion’s state and local sales and use taxes (SALT) as well as title and registration fees.

We are looking for candidates in the SaaS automotive retailing industry with experience working for DMS, retailing, or tax and fee data providers with extensive experience in taxes and fees across all states and/or provinces. This role provides a unique opportunity to become an expert for an assigned territory, utilize and execute APIs, work closely with internal and external teams including product and engineering, be involved with product development life cycle, contribute to the development of internal tools and processes, stretch your problem-solving skills, and learn something new daily. We will provide all the tools, training, and support necessary to perform research, analyze and interpret state laws and regulations, manage data, become an expert of our products, and perform testing.

Due to the complexity of this role, being very detail-oriented, organized, and having excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a willingness to embrace change, are vital to one's success. The analyst will also perform tax, loan, and lease calculations based on their research, so a technical understanding of leasing is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• The Senior Data Analyst will be an SME for a territory of states and apply their specialized knowledge to update & maintain all data towards providing accurate information within our products.
• Research and validate tax & fee calculations across states, cities, counties, territories, and provinces.
• Utilize data feeds, websites, emails or similar to obtain new data updates.
• Communicate with government and independent agencies to obtain information and guidance.
• Individual will proactively source and obtain new or missing tax and fee data as needed to ensure all data is available and accurate within products.
• Enter all required data into a proprietary content management tool in an accurate and timely manner.
• Perform tests to ensure that the data entered provide the expected results within our products.
• Review and analyze API payloads.
• Utilize Excel to build charts, tables, and calculation tools.
• Assist department with automating data entry and testing wherever possible.
• Complete all assigned projects on time and within established SLAs
• Correct any known data errors and respond to inquiries received from customer support, external partners, and internal team members.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or 6+ years in a similar role
• Proficiency with MS office, especially Excel
• Ability to make, understand and analyze API calls/responses (Postman)
• 10-key experience preferred as you will be working with lots of numbers
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Be organized and adaptable to an ever-changing and fast-moving field
• Must be a team player but also able to work autonomously
• Must perform well under tight deadlines for a key portion of the first week of each month
• High level of data-entry accuracy
• Experience with taxes and fee rules for multiple, if not all, states and/or provinces
• Technical knowledge of the inner workings and calculations of loans and leases.
• Experience with balancing or validating automobile-financing contracts is a plus
• Ability to work flexible hours and attend early morning meetings when necessary

Preferred Skills

• 6+ years in a similar role
• Advanced Excel skills
• Significant tax technical knowledge across all states and/or provinces
• Expert in automotive leasing
• Experience manually executing and analyzing API’s
