Kaluza reimagines energy to bring net-zero within everyone’s reach. The Kaluza Platform enables energy utilities to unlock the full value of a radically changing energy system and propel us to a future where renewable energy is sustainable, affordable and accessible for all.

From automating and simplifying core operations including billing to create a lower-cost, higher-engagement experience, to optimising energy usage across smart devices in the home, we turn tough challenges into win-win-win outcomes for customers, suppliers and the energy system.

What will I be doing?

You’ll be joining Kaluza’s 20+ UX team where designers have expertise in user research, service design and product design. We use our skills to ensure that our platform is coherent across complex journeys and is effective in helping its users (developers, operational managers, agents and end customers) to get their jobs done.

This is a 12 month, fixed term contract, in which you’ll be working specifically to support understanding, designing, and implementing improvements to two specific end to end journeys meeting the needs of our flagship UK client.

You will work closely with our client’s product stakeholders to design and implement digital experiences for external customers and internal customer service agents.

Using research and data, you’ll be able to clearly present and communicate key user stories. Using this evidence to create strong empathy and understanding behind your design decision making.

You’ll be comfortable in working in a very client facing manner, having a very hands-on and collaborative approach to the projects you work on with them.

Building on our existing components and design system, you will also collaborate with Kaluza’s UK teams to share insights, gather async feedback and represent our UX team in client meetings.

You will help elevate the quality and impact of our Customer and Agent experience products and inform Kaluza’s future experience offerings for retailers globally.

You’ll do this by:

  • Solving concrete problems, communicating ideas and solutions with a variety of design led output.
  • Supporting a culture of open collaboration and co-design across Kaluza and our client.
  • Identifying, designing and implementing behavioural design changes that improve outcomes for our client.
  • Proposing ways to improve and iterate processes, being organised and designing to deadlines.
  • Demonstrating strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
  • Clearly articulating your ideas and decisions to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifying user research needs, conducting user research and leveraging insights from client users and stakeholders.
  • Producing actionable insights from research that help shape the direction of product roadmaps and can be referenced in client interactions.
  • Testing your designs with real users; using wireframes, mockups and prototypes, to iterate and improve the effectiveness and user satisfaction of the interface.
  • Using data to drive design decisions and demonstrate impact of your work.
  • Building on top of our design system, continuing to adhere to accessibility standards
  • Documenting work effectively

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you’ll have:

  • Genuine excitement designing industry leading digital products
  • Experience of working with Service Design practices.
  • Experience in designing compelling and effective experiences that drive positive user engagement and satisfaction
  • Experience with User Interface design tools (we use Figma), working with components/symbols, styles and libraries
  • Experience in validating your solutions, including user testing methodologies, analytics, customer feedback
  • Strong relationship-building skills both with clients and internal teams, and the ability to bring them into the design process
  • Openness to feedback and the ability to take part in constructive design critiques
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to effectively organise and document your work
  • Experience working in software and/or energy or similar regulated industry.

What will happen next?

If your application is of interest you’ll go through three stages:

2.  Chat with hiring manager + design
3. Review/Case studies of previous work w/ Design manager + project team
We don’t feel that setting tasks for Design interviews is always conducive to seeing how designers work or what makes you tick….instead we’d like to focus on a review of some of your previous work, chosen by you, in whatever format you see fit. Tell us the story of what you’ve created previously, how you went about it, and what impact it had.

Feel free to contact a member of the Talent Acquisition team to discuss the role. More info can be found in our Internal Recruitment Policy.
