Job Description

Remote

Yext (NYSE: YEXT) is the leading digital presence platform for multi-location brands, with thousands of customers worldwide. With one central platform, brands can seamlessly deliver consistent, accurate, and engaging experiences and meaningfully connect with customers anywhere in the digital world. Our AI and machine learning technology powers the knowledge behind every customer engagement, which is only possible through our team of innovators and enthusiastic collaborators. Join us and experience firsthand why we are consistently recognized as a ‘Best Place to Work’ globally by industry leaders such as Built In, Fortune, and Great Place To Work®!

We’re excited to share that Yext has recently joined forces with Hearsay Systems, forming a unified organization that is stronger than ever. This strategic acquisition enhances our ability to deliver world-class solutions by combining industry-leading digital presence management with compliant engagement solutions across social media, text, and voice. As we begin this exciting new chapter together, we’re looking for passionate, driven individuals to help us integrate and continue to innovate in our shared mission.

This role will be part of the Hearsay team, now an integral part of Yext.

The Mobile team at Hearsay is a tight-knit, small-but-mighty group of iOS Engineers, Android Engineers, a Quality Engineer, a Designer, and a Product Manager who all work closely together day to day. When we’re not arguing about Xcode vs Android Studio, we’re hanging out on Zoom, bonding over our mutual love for food. We are seeking a proactive Android Engineer with hands-on experience in building Android applications to help us continue raising the bar of our mobile experience. This role has high growth potential in a collaborative environment as you will have the opportunity to build countless features from scratch and dive into the latest and greatest of upcoming Android technologies. This is a distributed team, so being comfortable collaborating in a remote environment is critical. Grow with us!

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with our team of Android engineers, iOS engineers, product, design, and QA to design, develop, test and maintain our codebase with emphasis on writing clean, efficient, and  maintainable code.
  • Coding with Retrofit, Room, Android Architecture Components libraries, Jetpack, Espresso.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Android platform trends, libraries, and best practices to continuously improve development processes.
  • Contribute to the overall mobile architecture and design discussions.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks, bugs, and performance issues within the application.
  • Share your thoughts on product features, the user experience, or literally anything else across the company.
  • Opportunities to travel a few times a year to meet with coworkers in various locations in North America.

What You Have

  • 2+ years of professional experience in native Android app development.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin programming languages.
  • Experience with Android Studio, Android SDK, and third-party libraries.
  • Solid understanding of Android UI/UX design principles and patterns, and a strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integration of backend services.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, user-friendly applications to the Google Play Store.
  • Care about taking a part in the product process from ideation to execution.

What your typical day may look like

  • Say good morning on Slack followed by some friendly conversation.
  • Check your Kanban board tasks and dive back into things that you weren’t able to manage the day before, collaborating with our development team to understand project requirements and design specifications.
  • Attend team standups (where our team discusses progress, updates, and any potential roadblocks), backlog grooming meetings (where our mobile team, along with QA, product manager and designer review current or created work items that require us to take certain actions), and a demo during a board check-in where we show ongoing progress to our product stakeholders.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability.
  • Wrap up your work, ensuring that your code is committed to version control and release frequently with continuous builds, testing and direct team feedback.
  • You'll continuously learn and grow in a supportive environment that values innovation, teamwork, and personal development.
