To drive carbon emissions while expanding our fleet vehicle variance out of our last mile operations while increasing the vehicle, we're seeking an exceptional Program Manager for our Amazon Logistics (AMZL) Sustainability, Fleet & Parking team in Japan.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing strategies and executing programs that reduce carbon emissions and improve sustainability across our in-station and road operations. You'll conceptualize innovative and disruptive solutions while working closely with operations, tech, finance, and deployment teams to implement customer experience improvements, sustainability initiatives, and cost-saving measures.
We are making significant long-term investments in building our Fulfillment and Transportation infrastructure in Japan and scaling our last-mile delivery capacity. As Program Manager, you will drive national expansion of strategic on-road programs and work with multiple teams within Supply Chain and Retail functions to deliver a World-Class Customer Experience while advancing Net-Zero Carbon Initiatives. You'll lead sustainability projects for Amazon Logistics Last Mile Delivery, partnering with tech, BI, Operations, Program, and analytics teams to create a robust, sustainable and long-term carbon-free infrastructure.
The role offers extensive collaboration opportunities with internal teams including Delivery Station Operations, Delivery Service Provider programs, Tech teams, World-Wide Sustainability teams, and external partners such as OEM manufacturers and leasing companies. You'll be responsible for driving programs, partnerships, innovations, and features while creating last-mile service and delivery process improvements and launching new market opportunities.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with an background in program management, operations, and cross-functional leadership for large-scale strategic initiatives. You should possess strong analytical and business acumen, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence without authority. Success in this role requires proficiency in managing complex logistics challenges, analyzing data, driving process improvements, and creating scalable solutions leveraging technology.
You must be able to work independently in a high-speed environment, exercise sound judgment where clear guidelines may not exist, and demonstrate a bias for action and results. Previous success in program management, operations, or final mile transportation, along with experience in matrix organizations and strategic leadership, will be highly valued. Japanese language skills are an advantage.
Key job responsibilities
• Build and implement a sustainable infrastructure for last-mile operations, leading the fleet transition to a long term emission-free vehicles and sustainable operations while building the right vehicle pool for last-mile capacity needs.
• Lead cross-functional and cross-regional teams in executing business vision, partnering with internal departments (Operation, Tech, Finance, Legal) and external stakeholders.
• Design and conduct pilot projects to test vehicles, identify scalable solutions, and drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency.
• Drive data accuracy and program performance through collaboration with tech and BI teams, analyzing metrics to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
• Manage resources and risks across complex cross-functional programs, ensuring efficient allocation and proactive risk mitigation strategies.
• Enhance customer and partner experience by translating needs into actionable programs while identifying cost-saving opportunities and maintaining service quality.
• Partner with tech teams to develop and implement technological solutions for sustainability tracking, automation, and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and implement global best practices.
• Communicate program progress and business impact to executive leadership, driving awareness and adoption of the initiatives.
• Define and execute comprehensive sustainability and fleet strategy.

A day in the life
Every Day is Day1 - One day is unlike the other as you will create a product to our partners and drivers to successively transition to a larger vehicle pool, including zero emission vehicles in the long term. There will be regular instances in which you will enter fixed mechanism and metrics reporting but other than that, you will define what your day looks alike, from negotiation with OEMs and manufacturers, designing new setups to planning, forecasting and tracking our initiates up to defining roadmaps with several internal stakeholders.

- 3+ years of program / project / product management experience
- Proficiency with data tools/systems including Excel
- Business Level of English- Master's Degree/MBA
- Experience in relevant fields (Sustainability, Environmental Management, Engineering)
- Experienced in working with distributed teams, often in different countries
- Experience with logistics/e-retail
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, deadline-oriented work environment
- Leading new or start-up related projects where processes will need to be defined, implemented and iterated within last mile
- Experience with SQL and tools such as Tableau
- Strong oral and written communication skills
