Our Global Professional Services team is the leading provider in the Sales Performance Management space. We are a dynamic group of consultants, architects, and project managers who take pride in helping our clients get the most out of Varicent products by implementing solutions that meet their unique business and technical needs.  Joining our practice means becoming part of a team that’s bold enough to chase experiences - like building, designing maintaining scalable compensation models for our customers, using Artificial Intelligence, captivating Visualizations, and unique and cutting-edge DB concepts. We are excited to bring English-speaking Senior Business Consultant opportunity to San Jose, Costa Rica, and are looking for passionate professionals who want to make an impact. Your drive and expertise will help us build a dynamic team and expand our footprint in this thriving market.  

In this role, you will work closely with our clients in many industries such as Financial Services, High Tech, Banking, Manufacturing, Retail, and Insurance to identify, design and configure Sales Performance Management (SPM) solutions to meet their business and technical needs. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Use industry experience to gather and document thorough business requirements  
  • Oversee the project team and the project implementation/delivery 
  • Coordinate and communicate with the customer’s project manager and project resources  
  • Design and build flexible and scalable compensation models using established proven practices 
  • Consume and analyze large amounts of data  
  • Create elegant, user-friendly, and accurate reports, dashboards, input forms, and workflows in Varicent 
  • Work with customers to develop testing plans, test cases and scripts 
  • Ensure that all deliverables arrive in good order, on time, and fulfill customers’ requirements  
  • Enable your customers to effectively use and maintain their Varicent solution  
  • Develop Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes for data preparation  
  • Communicate project progress to both internal and external stakeholders  
  • Author thorough solution documentation  
  • Provide accurate effort estimates for work to be completed and hold yourself accountable for the delivery 
  • Guide customers towards proven / recommended approaches to satisfying their business needs   
  • Support and mentor the development of junior consultants 
  • Proactively contribute to the evolution of Varicent products  
  • Travel to client sites domestically or internationally as required (25-80%) 

 

What You’ll Bring:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a technical field or a related business discipline   
  • At least 7 years of experience in IT Consulting, Enterprise Software Implementation  
  • At least 3-4 years of experience implementing Sales Performance Management or related software solutions 
  • A proven leader with a track record of leading large, complex software implementations 
  • Proven expertise with Query Based Languages (SQL) and Relational Databases 
  • Strong business communication skills (verbal and written) in English 
  • Customer-centric – ability to empathize with customers and understand their needs at every stage of the product development 
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements 
  • High energy with a drive to succeed   
  • Initiative and ability to work with minor oversight 
  • Availability and willingness to travel  

 

Success Outcomes  

Within 1 - 3 months, you will: 

  • Participate in new hire training, bootcamp 
  • Orient yourself with Varicent delivery methodology and key deliverables 
  • Develop a good overview of the SPM market, customers, and user personas 
  • Be engaged on a full-time project 
  • Increase familiarity with key Varicent modules 
  • Complete configuration of intermediate-to-advanced deliverables within a project 
  • Participate in the Test phase of a project to diagnose and resolve defects 

  

Within 6 months, you will: 

  • Lead medium-to-large scale implementation projects 
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions within your immediate and broader teams  
  • Mentor new hires on product implementation and project methodology  
  • Stay up-to-date on product improvements 
  • Complete Varicent ICM Certification 
  • Provide accurate effort estimates for work to be completed and hold yourself and your team accountable for the delivery. 

 

 Within 1 year, you will: 

  • Prescriptively guide customers toward recommended approaches to satisfy requirements 
  • Provide governance and quality control over delivered work by yourself and other team members 
  • Present a project success presentation to the larger Professional Services organization  
  • Demonstrate the success of your work through internal and customer feedback 
  • Become a subject matter expert in several aspects of Varicent Incentives, Sales Planning, and/or ELT 
  • Provide accurate product feedback to Project Management teams

  • Candidates selected for this position will be hired by Varicent’s designated professional employer organization. Your employment may be transferred to a local Varicent entity in the future.   • This role requires employees to work within Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours. While we are open to candidates from outside the EST time zone, please be prepared to adjust your working hours to align with this time zone. Flexibility will be essential to ensure seamless collaboration with the team and stakeholders. 
  • All employees will be required to work under a hybrid working model which will remain in effect for an indefinite period, with the flexibility to adapt as business needs evolve. While we anticipate this arrangement will continue for the foreseeable future, we are committed to regularly reassessing the approach to ensure it aligns with the needs of both the team and the organization.
