As a Software Development Engineer on the A to Z team, you’ll drive the development of foundational platform capabilities that simplify service creation, enhance system reliability, and ensure consistent experiences across devices. You’ll work with modern AWS technologies and serverless architectures to deliver robust, low-latency services that operate globally. Our mission is to abstract complexity, accelerate development across the org, and raise the engineering bar for A to Z.
You’ll collaborate closely with partner teams, product managers, and design to create seamless building blocks that scale across use cases — from pay and scheduling to onboarding, learning, and internal communications. We use LLM/GenAI technologies that can scale to serve millions of Amazonians globally. This is a high-impact role with visibility, technical breadth, and room to innovate at scale.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and deliver scalable, highly-available services that serve our global workforce across diverse workflows and country-specific requirements
- Build end-to-end solutions using modern serverless technologies and AWS services, ensuring exceptional performance and reliability
- Drive data-driven technical decisions while maintaining high standards in complex, ambiguous environments
- Collaborate with product and design partners to create intuitive user experiences that simplify complex workflows
- Innovate and improve our engineering practices while maintaining operational excellence
- Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture
- Take ownership of critical features from design through production, ensuring they meet enterprise-scale requirements
- Leverage foundational GenAI models to design and implement intuitive builder experiences that enable partner teams to rapidly develop and launch services on the A to Z platform

You'll solve complex technical challenges that impact millions of users. Your work will directly influence how Amazonians interact with essential workplace tools and information. - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
