Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience leading two cycles of different regulatory programs tied to data handling in a product setting.
  • Experience in leading processes multiple stakeholder groups, in a product setting with enterprise and consumer customer groups.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in implementing external controls frameworks.
  • Experience with ETL scripts, Google-specific resources and tooling like dashboard, workflows, GoogleSQL.
  • Experience with projects involving multiple Directors/Vice President-level stakeholders and leading scaled communications.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, we are seeking an experienced Governance Technical Program Manager who can lead our data governance strategy and oversee compliance related initiatives for the organization.

You will be skilled in data governance and regulatory implementation, and will be able to create clarity and communicate tradeoffs with executive stakeholders, comfortable in technical spaces and with levels of ambiguity, and is well versed in how to balance the need for a process that demonstrates a commitment to compliance with technical solutions that help us scale.

Google Research teams collaborate closely with other teams across Google, maintaining the flexibility and versatility required to adapt new projects and foci that meet the demands of the world's fast-paced business needs.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Work across leaders that head our Office of Compliance and Risk, Technical Governance, Launch and Review, and Education pillars to design a robust, data management and compliance strategy that is tailored to our specific needs and the intersecting regulatory environment.
  • Develop a set of clear, quantifiable metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to objectively measure and track the program's effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports to executive management, providing insights into the program's overall status, emerging risks, compliance performance, and recommended next steps.
  • Define and drive technical data programs to execute on the data governance strategy.
  • Work cross-functionally to embed an ethical and pro-compliance culture directly into core business processes and proactive risk mitigation.
