Job Description

Hybrid

The Experience team defines how our customers, riders, restaurants and employees interact with Deliveroo’s products. Based in London, our team has a global impact, with our work reaching customers in Singapore, riders in Milan and restaurant kitchens in Paris.

Join us in shaping the future of food and retail delivery at Deliveroo, where impact, innovation, and growth drives everything we do. Our teams tackle some of the most exciting challenges in tech, building systems that impact millions daily. 🚀

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Core-level Product Designer to join our ads design team.

About the team you’ll be joining

Ads at Deliveroo is a top company priority, so it’s an exciting part of the business. The Ads team is focused on creating impactful user flows that drive ad conversions to purchases and enhance customer engagement. They also innovate ways to scale high-quality ads in a cost effective way through creating tools and templates.

We work to create a positive end-to-end journey for our customers to discover, explore, and enrich their lives with the deals, items, and experiences offered on Deliveroo.

What you’ll be doing

On a day-to-day basis you will…

Design usable and scalable web and mobile applications used by Deliveroo’s account managers and partners to create ads. Level-up your systems thinking by designing ad formats that are flexible, localised and find the right balance between partner and Deliveroo branding.

  • Use our Design System in Figma to ensure that designs are accessible and easy to develop.
  • Partner with the Staff Product Designer to deliver hands-on work including meaty features on complex apps as well as the occasional advert.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders such as our product and engineering peers to ensure the work that’s done is feasible given whatever constraints exist as well as delivers value to our customers, partners, and the business.
  • Understand Deliveroo’s core metrics and business goals and contribute to the business’s success with your superpowers—critical thinking and customer-centric design.

What you’ll need to thrive

We value intellectual humility, an eagerness to learn, and the ability to move quickly while being practical. But above all else, we need unique teammates from varied backgrounds to add new perspectives, skills, and experience. Our ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in some of these areas, with a willingness to grow in others:

  • Solid design execution skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to influence stakeholders and be the voice of the customer.
  • A team-player spirit because we value collective success over individual achievement. High-fives all around!
  • The ability to move quickly because at Deliveroo we move fast, adapt to the market, and respond productively to change.
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset that drives you to become a better designer and person each day. We’ll provide you with a manager who shares actionable, constructive feedback and a stellar Staff Product Designer to mentor you on your craft.
  • A good sense of humour—you believe work can and should be fun
  • A great appetite—’cause we love eating!

Is this role right for you?

We understand that getting the right fit is not only important to Deliveroo, but also to the wellbeing and growth for whoever joins our team. To help you decide if Deliveroo is a place where you can do your best work (or not), here are some reasons this role may or may not be a fit:

  • You need clarity before you can get started on a project. At Deliveroo we have ambiguous problem statements that we all clear up together as we go.
  • You prefer to work independently and keep your work to yourself until it’s ready for development. We have regular Experience Team crits, and we share our work early, often, and messy.
  • You prefer creative freedom and don’t like to work within constraints. Our team is all about operational efficiency, and we see constraints as a true test of our problem-solving ability and visual design skills.

A note from your Manager

Hey! My name is Erin, and I’ll be your manager if you choose to join our team. As your manager, it’s my job to set you up for success. I do this by giving you access to the tools and information you need, removing barriers that get in your way, and guiding you back on track if you get lost.

I believe in servant leadership. That means I’m not the type of person who tells people what to do. Instead I ask questions, give suggestions, and nudge people to figure things out for themselves. I also believe in radical candor. So, if I notice something that is holding you back, I will not shy away from giving you clear, actionable feedback. I have an empathic, direct communication style because I believe that feedback is a gift when given from the heart with the other person’s best interest in mind. You can expect me to champion your work, hold a design quality bar, and help you become a better designer each day.

Why Deliveroo

Our mission is to transform the way you shop and eat, bringing the neighbourhood to your door by connecting consumers, restaurants, shops and riders.

  • Founder-led, growth-focused: Innovation and scale are at our core.
  • Hybrid work and flexibility: Flexible hours with a balanced approach to office time.

Our tech teams tackle unique challenges, blending physical and digital services across multiple markets at speed. We're not just writing code – we're empowering engineers to architect solutions at massive scale.

What to expect in the interview process

  • Recruiter screen
  • Portfolio review interview
  • Full loop (final stages)
    • Case study presentation
    • Technical expertise interview
    • Culture contribution & collaboration interview

We welcome everyone, regardless of gender identity, race, disability status, neurodiversity, sexuality, religion, or whether coriander is your sworn enemy. We also plan regular ERG events for employees to get together, share their experience, and support one another.
