We are seeking an innovative Software Development Manager that will obsess over integrated in-vehicle experience of drivers who use Amazon's delivery app in the Last Mile delivery vans. You will be the single-threaded leader for a core initiative and responsible for end-to-end business, customer/developer experience, and product development.
Amazon's integrated in-vehicle delivery app is built for the Delivery Associates to help complete deliveries for many of Amazon's programs. Our application works in concert with advanced logistics systems that allow delivery partners to onboard and be guided through their deliveries with in-vehicle mapping, navigation, package delivery and customer information. We have launched 20K Rivian Electric Delivery Vans in the US and EU and are extending this game-changing experience to new vehicles in the Amazon Delivery fleet.
Key job responsibilities
As the Software Development Manager, you'll lead a talented and nimble team of engineers to create innovative ways to deliver software that will keep the driver safe while on road. Responsibilities include direct management of 6+ engineers, process and quality of service improvements, strategic planning, project management for software within the team, and management of resources across teams. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery.
You will work with our product management, UX and other partner engineering teams to develop the strategy, followed by architecture and implementation of customer facing features in multiple vehicle OEMs. You will be responsible for the partner team enablement strategy to ensure feature parity across all surfaces. You will also own software in all phases of the software life-cycle from architecture and design through deployment and release. You will learn about Amazon’s logistics network, interact with other teams to build optimized systems, and have autonomy to deliver software which impacts multiple delivery provider programs.
About the team
Delivery Assistance Technology (DAT) team delivers solutions that drive improvements to transporter processes. We invent products that create step function improvements in safety and productivity for Last Mile Delivery Associates.- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in mobile app development (iOS or Android)- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
