Your Impact  

As a Hardware Quality Engineer (m/f/x), you will be responsible for qualifying new product developments, conducting root cause analyses of existing Dedrone hardware products, and ensuring quality throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will be closely integrated into the development team, collaborating with our international colleagues, particularly in the USA, while bringing a passion for driving quality, reliability, and performance in hardware sensing and mitigation products. With a strong engineering mindset and attention to detail, you will establish robust testing methodologies, identify potential risks early, and ensure that our hardware meets the highest standards. Your structured approach to quality assurance and process improvement, combined with your ability to work seamlessly across time zones, will play a crucial role in enhancing product stability and supporting the continuous evolution of Dedrone’s technology. 

 
Location: Onsite at our Kassel office 

Reports to: Director of Quality Engineering  

What You’ll Do  

  • Develop and execute quality assurance strategies for hardware products, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Perform root cause analysis on hardware failures, collaborating with engineering teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
  • Establish and maintain test plans and quality control processes to validate hardware performance, reliability, and compliance across different operational conditions.
  • Define and optimize testing methodologiesforvarious solutions, including mitigation systems, integrated sensor platforms, power distribution, and supporting infrastructure such as trailers and mobile units.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, and field support teams to proactively identify and mitigate quality risks.
  • Analyze statistical test data to detect trends, identify weaknesses, and develop improvement measures.
  • Support production quality control, including incoming inspections, supplier quality reviews, and factory acceptance testing.
  • Ensure documentation and reporting of quality findings, creating structured, actionable feedback for continuous improvement. 

 

What You Bring  

  • Degree in Quality Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in hardware quality assurance, particularly in validating complex integrated systems, mitigation technologies, power management, and mobile platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with experience in failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective action planning.
  • Hands-on experience with testing and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Ability to design and execute structured test cases for hardware validation and compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a systematic and analytical approach to quality control.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written) and strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
  • Basic familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for test automation is a plus.
  • Experience with Linux systems and the ability to interact with network devices via SSH, PuTTY, etc., is beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel (approx. 10%) to support international quality assurance activities.
