The Risk Manager, Standards, Assessment and Methodology, develops and delivers comprehensive security risk management processes and supports program development and management, building capabilities for the organization globally to cope with various levels of threats, incidents and crisis situations that jeopardize Amazonβs personnel, assets, operations and interests.
Key job responsibilities
- Second line ownership of programs to enable risk identification, assessment and management by translating Amazon Security Policies into real world applications.
- Deliver global risk assessments in coordination with partner teams and manage the yearly risk assessment delivery cycle.
- Lead program improvement initiatives, through deep dives into performance, lessons learned and impact data, aligned to broader development goals.
- Own and develop internal data integrity for assigned risk programs, specifically operational impact metric and ROI data.
- Conduct operational deep dives on processes and systems, in cooperation with partner teams, to support the development and improvement of risk policies and standards.
- Train, advise, and partner with other functions in identifying, managing and mitigating risks through robust standards and processes.
- Work closely with and manage relationships with Regional R&R, Solutions and Field LP teams to support program implementation and management of risk programs.
- Support regional and partner teams with identifying best practices, lessons learned and novel regional solutions identifying opportunities for global scalability.
- Develop detailed, data driven narratives to inform WWOS leadership on the progress and performance of risk programs as well as areas for continuous improvement.
A day in the life
The Risk Manager works closely and on a daily basis with senior Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS), Regional Security & Loss Prevention (S&LP), and operations leaders to execute organizational vision and drive the adoption of proportionate and effective standards and programs. World Wide Amazon Stores (WWAS) operates in highly diversified and complex environments, which include numerous regulatory and law enforcement models, cultures, languages, criminality levels, and national, political, social, and security complexities.
The Risk Manager collaborates with the Senior Risk Managers to develop comprehensive risk frameworks and programs that address Under the Roof and On the Road risks, as well as enhance the organization's capability for proactive risk identification. They deliver comprehensive global risk assessments in coordination with other WWOS teams and business stakeholders and manage the risk assessment delivery cycle. They will dive deep into the control environment and understand the effectiveness of design and operations. The goal is to facilitate action through regional teams and partners, influencing adoption, building capability, and conducting continuous improvement with regional flexibility and scale. The Risk Manager works across regions and business lines to adopt standardized methodologies and apply best practices to proactively manage risk through engaging with multiple stakeholders to gather information and put it together in a cohesive manner. They will break problems into manageable pieces, ruthlessly prioritizing, and delivering results in a global environment and on regional initiatives. This will include owning the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.

About the team
The Standards, Assessment and Methodology team creates and maintains the risk methodology and frameworks to ensure the early identification and treatment of risk to support the objectives of business and operational S&LP teams. The team provides strategic, tactical, and operational mechanisms by working closely with global and regional business leaders and support functions.
The team leverages global and regional Risk & Resilience (R&R) teams to implement risk programs, identify and monitor risks, and support Field Loss Prevention teams with the implementation of appropriate and prioritized risk treatment plans.
- 3+ years in security risk management or a related field
- Bachelor's Degree in International Relations, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, Political Science, Business Intelligence, Business Continuity or Resilience, or related field.
- Project management and delivery experience
- Knowledge of industry risk assessment and business resilience processes
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple, competing deadlines, with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to communicate with all levels of business leadership and staff
- Experience handling confidential information
- Ability to manage and analyze data.
- Experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders to drive solutions from concept to implementation for complex problems.- Experience with continuous improvement cycles and analytical methodology
- Familiarity with risk, business continuity and data management platforms (BSI, Audit board etc)
- Security risk management industry certification (ASIS APP, CPP, CSMP)
