Job Description

Hybrid

Groupon is a marketplace where customers discover new experiences and services everyday and local businesses thrive. To date we have worked with over a million merchant partners worldwide, connecting over 16 million customers with deals across various categories. In a world often dominated by e-commerce giants, we stand out as one of the few platforms uniquely committed to helping local businesses succeed on a performance basis.

Groupon is on a radical journey to transform our business with relentless pursuit of results. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. The impact here can be immediate due to our scale and the speed of our transformation. We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have the resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Merchant Payments Specialist to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring smooth daily payment processing for merchants. The position involves working with systems such as NetSuite and Salesforce while supporting internal teams including sales, risk, legal, and finance. Key tasks include managing accounts payable operations, email and ticketing queues, and assisting with banking processes and operational improvements.

🚀 Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accounts payable support by setting up merchant payments, reviewing accounts, and processing invoices.
  • Manage an email inbox and ticketing queue, professionally responding to queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in banking processes, including payment processing, credit applications, and banking updates.
  • Participate in financial and operational process improvement initiatives.
  • Review and reconcile merchant accounts as needed.
  • Handle specific payment-related projects and ad hoc assignments.

✏️ Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar accounts payable or payment-related role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools.
  • Knowledge of Excel (essential) and experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, and Zendesk (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Strong multitasking skills and the ability to manage projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a team-oriented mindset.

Language Requirement:

  • Proficiency in English is required.

 🌎 Location:

  • Madrid
  • Working hours: US working hours (2pm - 10pm Madrid time)
  • We work in a hybrid model - 2 days per week in the office, 3 days remotely.

 💬 What is our mindset?

  • We compare ourselves to a sports team, striving to assemble the best team with the available resources.
  • While maintaining values like fairness, mutual support, and respect, we also focus on performance, aiming to build a top-notch organization capable of delivering excellent results quickly.
  • Our culture is built on courage, ambition, and is strongly meritocratic, allowing the most capable individuals to grow rapidly.
  • We deconstruct the system into the smallest building blocks, clearly articulate key issues, and communicate next action steps.
  • We deliver results under pressure, focusing on weeks rather than years during the transformation period.
  • Learn more about us on the landing page.

If you are a motivated professional looking to contribute to a dynamic team and play a crucial role in payroll operations, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your English resume.
