Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in lab management with electrical and mechanical engineering.
  • 1 year of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
  • 1 year of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
  • Experience with electrical systems, test equipment, and lab management and maintenance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in lab management related to electrical and mechanical engineering.
  • 3 years work experience in consumer product design shipping multiple products and executing new lab infrastructure.
  • Experience with multiple manufacturing methods used in consumer products and collaborating with global suppliers on part manufacturing and final assembly.
  • Experience in system integration, including electro-mechanical components (audio, display, camera, antenna, etc.), waterproofing, thermals, grounding, or product architecture.
  • Ability to read Schematics and PCB layouts, and perform electrical rework.

As a Prototype Lab Engineer, you will be part of the team developing the next generation of Pixel Watch. You will drive the prototyping, design, and analysis of new concepts as well as manage cross-functional lab infrastructure, ensuring safety and compliance standards are met, tracking assets, proactively processing equipment calibration, and assisting with equipment purchases. You will demonstrate creative problem-solving and design skills, clear communication, and a solid base of engineering fundamentals. You will manage responsibilities across the team. You will work on a Product Design team that balances comfort, performance, and appearance in an innovative and harmonious design that complements and enables the technology. You will collaborate with external vendors and internal cross-functional teams such as Electrical Engineering, Antenna, Industrial Design, Reliability, Operations, User Experience, and Product to define and deliver excellent products.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Prototype new mechanical and electrical concepts, develop validation plans, and perform testing to move design maturity forward and enable data-based decision making.
  • Contribute to the design of moderately complex subsystems or multiple individual parts from concept to production.
  • Manage, organize and maintain laboratory equipment for Electrical and Mechanical engineering labs, including calibration and consumables.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for lab procedures, test methods, and work instructions. Manage laboratory budget, purchasing of equipment, and inventory control.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and relevant industry standards.
