Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.
- 10 years of experience working in public affairs, political communications, or political campaigns, or within government.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in leading complex, cross-functional policy campaigns and providing strategic counsel to business teams in a dynamic, and fluid environment.
- Experience in policy advocacy, engaging with government officials, industry leaders, and think tanks, and navigating the complexities of the Indian regulatory landscape.
- Ability to analyze and interpret legislative and regulatory proposals and communicate their implications effectively to a varied audience.
- Ability to build consensus and foster effective partnerships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.

As the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) Manager for Knowledge and Information (KandI) Products India, you will help lead Google’s public policy efforts relating to Google Ads, Search, Maps, and News, as well as potentially on other (KandI) product related issues in Asia Pacific (APAC) region. You will manage projects across a host of issues, coordinate with the global team and key cross-functional partners to execute policy strategy, and advise product, business, and engineering teams on the public policy implications of their work.
You will develop, organize, manage, and communicate critical plans, initiatives, and strategy, while tracking various regulatory proposals and analyze their potential impact on the business.
Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.
- Develop, organize, manage Google's public policy strategy for KandI products in India. Analyze regulatory proposals and their potential impact on Google's products and services. Help shape Google's policy efforts relating to responsible development and deployment of new products and features in consumer product areas.
- Manage policy projects on issues affecting Google’s consumer product areas, including user privacy, content, and cross-industry relations. Work within a global team to develop public policy strategies and positions for Google’s KandI products, create materials supporting advocacy on those positions.
- Collaborate with Product, Business, and Engineering teams to advise on the policy and political implications of product development in Google’s KandI product areas.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders such as government officials, regulators, industry experts, and civil society organizations to foster dialogue and collaboration on policy issues.
