Application Engineering Manager, Workday Platform

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12 years of experience working with SAP ERP implementation, SAP S/4 HANA development including ABAP.
• 5 years of experience managing engineers.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 7 years of development experience in large-scale enterprise systems prior to management, preferably in the HR domain or Workday.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Enterprise software development experience, with a focus on leveraging the best of 3rd party tools and 1st party engineering to influence solution design.
• Experience with SOAP, REST APIs, and industry-standard security protocols.
• Experience with GCP services such as GCE, BigQuery, or Spanner.

As an Application Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers and business analysts in meeting the application needs of Google’s internal customers. You will manage the ideation, design, planning, implementation, and deployment of solutions across the Workday third-party and Google first-party tech stack, with an emphasis on rapid iteration and sustainable engineering practices.

• Manage and direct the execution of end-to-end projects and influence critical initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional, cross-organizational, and cross-site teams to deliver projects from scoping to full production.
• Mentor, coach, and develop application engineers to deliver highly reliable, scalable, and efficient products leveraging Workday 3P and Google 1P technologies.
• Manage project schedules, identify execution risks (technical or organizational), and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders.
• Develop tools and processes to improve the engineering productivity of the team and organization.
