As the Engineering Director for the Core Hybrid Platforms (CHP) team, you will advance the mission of removing barriers to organic adoption of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and other public cloud technologies by Alphabet. You will build and drive adoption of platforms to enable Alphabet’s product reas, Bets, and acquisitions to build hybrid and cloud-native systems with security and privacy controls.

The rapidly growing capabilities of GCP are critical to meeting the increasing needs of Alphabet’s engineering teams who are adapting to changes in industry practices, demands from stakeholders, and a competitive landscape. Making Alphabet the most sophisticated user of GCP and other public cloud technologies is key to making these capabilities available to the engineering teams safely.

In this role, you will lead a team of software, security, and privacy engineers to define the technical strategy and implement the platforms necessary to enable safe use of public cloud and the building of hybrid systems for Alphabet’s businesses. You will need to lead the development of solutions that involve technical problems across a variety of domains including: cloud infrastructure actuation and management, security and privacy controls and risk management, networking and service connectivity, reliability engineering and observability, and AI/ML. You'll form strong partnerships with engineering, product management, and PMO teams who will contribute to the end-to-end solutions we deliver to our customers.

This role is a unique opportunity to collaborate across Google to address complex software engineering, security, and privacy challenges, and to expand Alphabet’s ability to rapidly innovate and deliver quality products for our users leveraging the rapidly expanding capabilities of the public cloud.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
