The Director of Content Strategy, Development, and Governance will spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive content strategy for Pinterest’s Global Sales Organization (GSO). This role involves creating, distributing, and overseeing impactful content at the company, solution, vertical, and regional levels. The director will lead a team of strategists, designers, copywriters, producers, and project managers to deliver insights-driven, targeted content that supports Pinterest’s key verticals and geographies. Additionally, they will collaborate closely with Sales training to ensure the Sales team is well-equipped to utilize this content effectively.

 

Reporting to the Senior Director of Insights & Content, and with a dotted line to the VP Global Client Solutions, this role requires a strategic, collaborative, and influential leader with deep full-funnel advertising industry expertise, who can drive creative content development, operational rigor, cross-functional alignment, and global, inclusive thinking.

 

This position is ideally based in New York City but is open to other Pinterest offices in the U.S.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Strategic Content Development & Production Oversight:
    • Develop sales content strategy, including messaging, positioning, and value propositions tailored to business objectives, vertical, and regional needs.
    • Identify content gaps, prioritize content development, and align resources.
    • Develop deep understanding of key vertical and regional business needs, and highly actionable insights about how Pinterest is uniquely positioned to address those needs.
    • Identify and tap into Subject Matter Experts across the organization, to develop effective sales content narratives.
    • Oversee content production workflows, ensuring timely delivery, executive buy-in, and rigorous quality control.
  • Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
    • Lead a team of strategists, writers, editors, and designers to develop high-impact sales content across formats, including sales pitches, one-pagers, competitive battle cards, objection-handling guides, and success stories.
    • Recruit, hire, and lead a high-performing content team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment that reflects Pinterest’s values.
    • Set clear expectations and performance metrics, ensuring accountability for content quality and business impact.
    • Partner with Business Marketing to ensure alignment in positioning, messaging, and content integration within broader marketing campaigns.
    • Effectively manage relationships with senior and cross-functional stakeholders, including executive leaders.
  • Content Discovery & Governance:
    • Establish a governance framework with roles and responsibilities for content creation, approval, and organization.
    • Ensure sales content is discoverable, well-organized, consistent, and up to date.
    • Track and analyze content performance using analytics tools to measure effectiveness.

What we’re looking for:

  • 15+ years of experience in developing content for digital media/platforms and at companies with advertising-based business models. Strong understanding of lower and full funnel advertising, data, and measurement as well as industry and cross industry client trends.  Past experience working for Agencies, Brands or Consultancies in this capacity is a plus.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in leading teams generating compelling insights driven content that uniquely address customer needs and drive sales. 
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Marketing, Strategy, or equivalent experience.
  • Ready to enthusiastically embrace AI technology to create systems that deliver custom content at scale.
  • Knowledge of mobile and digital products and technologies. Well-developed product sensibility and experience leading creative discussions regarding potentially innovative, unique, and engaging content offerings. Aptitude with measurements and analytics and positioning data to illustrate impact.
  • Strong management skills and demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team of content creators including strategists, copywriters, designers and project managers. Proven ability to lead in a highly dynamic industry environment.
  • Experience leading complex content initiatives, managing multiple stakeholders, and holding teams accountable for delivering high-quality work on time. Setting metrics to measure content performance and adjust accordingly.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across Sales, Sales Enablement, Marketing, Product, and Leadership to ensure content is strategically aligned, effectively utilized, and drives measurable impact. Strong leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary content teams.

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from the Pinterest New York City, Chicago or San Francisco office.
