Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. The Senior Manager of Category Sourcing will build out capability and capacity for satellite hardware commodities supporting Kuiper’s satellite products. This role will work closely with Business, Engineering, Production Ops and other key stakeholders in selecting, developing and managing business relationships with critical material, technology and services suppliers as well scale internal process capability appropriately. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a successful track record leading and managing a team, developing and strategy, negotiating agreements and statements of work, managing supplier performance, and ensuring on-time delivery of large, significant, complex, high quality, cost effective custom products for Kuiper satellites. Experience working in new and ambiguous environments while solving challenging and complex problems with a broad range of cross functional stakeholders will be an advantage.

Key job responsibilities
• Manage a team of category sourcing managers to support global contract manufactures.
• Manage the business relationships with stakeholders and customers spanning resolution of operational issues to escalation of commercial and contractual negotiations
• Work with a range of stakeholders including business leaders, engineering leaders, legal, program management, and supply chain to negotiate a variety of agreements and contracts to secure supply arrangements
• Influence suppliers' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations
• Prioritize projects and activities to deliver maximum cost reductions and reliable supply
• Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals
• Drive financial modeling of large and complex deals
• Evaluate and monitor financial health of critical suppliers
• Effectively lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture and follow-up activity coordination


A day in the life
This role will partner with the Electrical Engineering team, Hardware engineering teams and Production Operations teams to establish and supply chain strategies that both 1) meet the short- and long-term technical and business objectives of each team and 2) meet long-term cost, production scaling and risk management requirements to achieve Kuiper’s customer and financial targets.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Engineering, Science, Supply Chain, or Business
• 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or supply chain management
• 5+ years of experience developing and executing sourcing strategies, including supplier negotiation, purchasing agreements or development agreements
• 5+ years of experience developing and negotiating business deals associated with high-specification manufacturing or technology
• Export Control Requirements: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.• MBA plus a degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering, or a scientific field
• 10+ years of experience developing and executing sourcing strategies in a multi-billion dollar of supply agreement in semiconductor products
• 10+ years of experience managing semiconductor front end foundries and OSAT global supply base with end to end supply chain experience.
• Experience hiring and managing a team
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $174,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $288,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
