As part of TSI org, the SLM team (Seller Lifecycle Team) is dedicated to preventing bad actors from misrepresenting their identities to operate selling accounts in our store. Our mission is that customers can shop with trust and confidence that every selling account on Amazon is operated by a verified and authenticated identity at every stage of the selling lifecycle, which promotes a community built on mutual trust, transparency, and accountability. SLM team is looking for a strong Manager III - Risk Mining Operations to drive risk mining operations and provide program support for our key initiatives to catch bad actors.
Key job responsibilities
• The Risk Manager III is a senior leader for the Risk Mining team based out of India. The risk mining team - Fraud Identification, Remediation & Enforcement (FIRE) - utilizes a combination of seller identity and behavioral attributes to identify risky identities operating seller accounts, stop bad actors and reduce downstream fraud and abuse impact. Leading the risk mining operations requires the leader himself/herself to be skilled in investigations, detecting and quickly mitigating unique patters of bad actor activity. The leader is directly responsible for managing a team of 13 risk specialists and should be a strong coach to guide the team who use a high-judgement (non-SOP based) mental model to identify abusive trends used by bad actors and their associated rings of accounts (ROA) at scale
• The Risk Manager III is skilled at communications across levels and functions and always looking to improve processes inside your own team and across the org, able to measure effectiveness and draw insights through structured metrics and seller anecdotes. You are a relationship builder who cares passionately about the customer and how we deliver value each day.
• Other than risk mining, the leader also provides program support for SLM initiatives, including one Program Manager and one senior Business Analyst. You will also be all process improvements initiatives as a program leader with downstream teams such as Dormancy.
• Your team will enable analysis and tests in close partnership with product managers, scientists, and engineers, drive root cause analysis of ever-changing bad actor behaviors and deploy rules that will prevent bad actors from gaining access to Amazon's platform.
• You need to dive deep into time-sensitive escalations (internal executive inquiries and external seller escalations) and lead your team to build the analytical skillsets to tackle escalations on an ongoing basis. You will also need strong influencing skills and solid written communications to report out findings, address gaps, and close the loop with partner teams (e.g. science, engineering, other risk mining operations teams), which have broad implications and high stakes (often public-facing)
A day in the life
1. Provide leadership direction to Risk specialists and Risk mining analyst in managing day to day activities of bad actor detection
2. Develop and help drive the execution of the Risk Mining analyst charter
3. Navigate an ever-changing risk environment and focus on supporting strategic charters of the org and balance it with ongoing risk mining operations, including high-visibility escalations
4. Establish and continuously refine mechanisms to incorporate downstream signals to improve efficacy in detection of bad actor activity (e.g. sharing anecdotes from our operations with product and science to refine ML model)
5. Support SLM mechanisms for deep-dives and reviews, e.g. leading WBR metrics deepdive and coordinating across product, tech and science for seller escalations

7. Contribute to quarterly business reviews (and monthly business reviews) that are reviewed at leadership level
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Strong analytical skillset in diving into various backend systems, with rigor and attention to detail.
- 6+ years of experiences in risk and investigations, with ability to make high-judgement decisions instead of relying on processes and SOPs- • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; proven ability to guide cross-functional teams through influence versus direct management.
- • Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment where not all processes and procedures are clearly defined. Agility to change directions quickly as needed.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
