Flights Apps Discovery & Engagement team The Flights Apps Discovery & Engagement team is passionate about improving the Genius value proposition for Flights and developing features that facilitate traveler engagement with Flights products through optimized exploration features. We are seeking a dedicated engineer to join our efforts in experimenting with and empowering the Genius value proposition at different stages of the booking funnel. This includes experimenting with flight fare discovery using machine learning-powered predictions and keeping users engaged with the product through features like Price Alerts and Share a Flight and others. The team is multi-functional, delivering solutions across all client platforms (Android, iOS, Web) supported by the backend, and operates with a high degree of autonomy in both business domain and technical solutions. The Full Stack Engineer will collaborate with two skilled peers in the same craft and multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders who work closely with the team. This role offers opportunities to drive and own product and technical objectives, integrate with tools and frameworks specific to the Flights domain as well as those widely used within Booking.com, and contribute to the development of user-facing features on the Web client. Role Qualifications and Requirements: Understanding the full stack of web development is vitally important in this role. We need self-starters who are great at solving problems, who initiate discussions, are customer focused and believe that any challenge can be scaled with the right attitude and tools. We are looking for: A minimum of 3 years of experience in web development. Strong software development experience with Node.js and Java. Very good understanding of APIs design and Kafka queues. Experience in front-end development with Vanilla JavaScript, TypeScript, React. Experience with service oriented architecture. Demonstrable experience with multiple database systems (MySQL, Cassandra, etc.). Experience with defining and upholding SLOs/critical metrics. Proficiency with containerized applications. Experience with data-driven product development: analytics, A/B testing, etc. Excellent communication; written and spoken. Experience of having developed software for the flights / airline industry (this could be for an online travel agency, directly for an airline or a software services business) would be of strong benefit.
