Job Description

On-site
Amazon is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to provide statistical and analytical insights from the vast array of services powering one of the world’s largest Reliability, Maintenance Engineering (RME) platforms. As part of the Maintenance Automation Platform team, we support the business in all aspects of the traditional automation pyramid, and we collect, store, analyze and vend machine data to internal consumers within Amazon’s WW Fulfillment Network.

At a basic level, the systems we manage link our low-level automation systems with the cloud, and we work to align our solutions with industry standards and best practices throughout the automation pyramid, from device level to the enterprise level. The more complex systems are leveraging Machine Learning and Big Data to drive predictive actions, preventing downtime or defects in the material handling equipment and improving the Overall Equipment Efficiency of the installations.

This role requires an individual with excellent statistical and analytical abilities, deep knowledge of business intelligence solutions and data engineering practices, as well as strong business acumen and the ability to effectively collaborate with various teams across Amazon. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and driven by a desire to innovate in this space.

Key job responsibilities

- Architect, design, implement, and support a platform providing secured access to large datasets.
- Interface with business customers and delivering omplete BI solutions.
- Model data and metadata to support ad-hoc and pre-built reporting.
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
- Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
- Analyze and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
- Use data mining, model building, and other analytical techniques to develop and maintain customer segmentation and predictive models to drive the business.
- Respond to high priority requests from senior business leaders.
- Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know when, how, and which to use and which not to use.
- Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for secondary datasets

The ideal candidate would have strong business acumen, a restlessness to answer “why?” questions, excellent analytical abilities, strong technical skills, superior written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams. S/he would be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Work closely with central RME teams and the broader BI and community.
