Risk Manager

Tower Research Capital, a high-frequency proprietary trading firm founded in 1998, seeks a Risk Manager, with a strong background in algorithmic trading to join the global Risk and Trading Supervision team in Hong Kong.

Responsibilities  

• Providing risk oversight for the APAC trading activities of the firm by focusing on electronic trading risk and market risk
• Assisting the regional Head of Risk in overseeing, managing and modeling risk for the regional trading activities
• Working closely with the Portfolio Managers, Traders, Core Engineering team, and Prime Brokers to respond effectively to resolve trading related issues
• Assisting Risk Management and Risk Technology teams to enhance trading risk controls and to mitigate operational risk
• Conducting ad-hoc risk and margin analysis in addition to back-testing on a regular basis

Qualifications  

• Strong academic background with a bachelor’s degree in STEM disciplines, quantitative master’s highly regarded
• 2 to 5 years of experience in an electronic trading risk role gained with a quantitative proprietary trading group or sell-side electronic trading role
• Experience with low latency algorithmic risk controls is mandatory
• Broad knowledge of regional equities, futures and options markets and exchange-specific rules
• Solid Python and database proficiency required
• Working knowledge of equity arbitrage strategies such as index arbitrage, systematic equity, etc. is a plus 
• Desire to continuously learn and proactively challenge the status quo to improve existing processes
• Experience working with compliance, business management and technology teams
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
