Software Engineering Manager, Server Production Platform

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure Systems, Developer Tools, and Production Systems.
• Experience in people management, project management, collaboration, stakeholder management, and system design.
• Experience working with distributed systems.
• Experience with assessing the impact of the projects and initiatives (ex: coming up with value metrics, running the assessment, stack-ranking projects based on them, etc.).

In this role, you will establish a Server Platform site in Bengaluru which is ready for growth. As a manager in Server Platform, you will own, groom and deliver upon product backlogs and be a key part in building a strong technical site.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

• Own a certain product or sub-domain like know the users and their challenges, define the product direction for the team, build necessary partnerships, and identify collaboration opportunities.
• Propose, scope and execute projects which contribute to the team and wider organization priorities, and manage a team of software engineers.
• Work with end-users and stakeholders to clarify requirements and manage expectations.
• Build and maintain collaborations with teams inside the Server Platform organization.
• Contribute to the ongoing projects and horizontal workstreams (ex: Server Platform Efficiency workstream).
