Job Description

Microsoft Consumer Sales Organization (CSO) works across all Microsoft products and services sold to Consumers, under two Microsoft Customer Solution Areas: (1) Devices and Creativity covering Surface, Office and Windows and (2) Gaming covering Xbox Hardware, Content & Services. The CSO team partners with internal stakeholders and external partners to delight customers and maximize mutual business results (revenue, margin, market share) maintaining the highest ethical, compliance and security standards throughout.

 

Consumer Sales Finance (CSF) is a truly global finance team which has inclusion, culture and talent development as core values. CSF look at the Consumer business end-to-end work with several business stakeholders in providing financial expertise to drive & guide the business - we work with Marketing to align on success measures for our product categories, with Supply & Operations to ensure we have the right product in the right place, with Sales to understand our Partner Account mechanics and Channel Strategy. We collaborate with related finance functions (Engineering Group, Corporate Finance, WW Incentive Compensation) to land financial plans which reflect CSO’s contribution to Microsoft’s overall goals and which chart our growth path in both existing and emerging businesses. We manage the CSO organization’s Rhythm of Business (ROB) and are custodians of the profit and loss (P&L). We work with Regional finance to bring the voice of customers & partners to life in our analysis & plans.

 

Consumer Sales Finance FP&A team are seeking a Controller - Centralized Surface Planning with finance and business acumen, to lead and evolve the centralized planning function for our Surface Consumer business. You will partner with the Worldwide Product Category team, Surface Engineering Group (EG) and Surface Regional and HQ Finance teams to evolve the centralized planning framework for the Surface Consumer business. You will own the driver-based models, which standardize how we look at the business and will focus on deepening our insights and planning agility in the Hardware space. You develop an approach which is adaptable for both planning and forecast purposes, and can scale to support the varying granularity needs across our Regions. You will collaborate deeply with EG and Demand Planning (Supply Chain) teams to form a unified planning view and provide thought leadership for our Surface finance & business communities in assessing opportunities and exposures. As part of this you will have a strategic role as you work closely with Category and EG on preparing new launches and validating long range assumption. This role is Global in scope, and you will have the opportunity to interact with both our corporate & regional teams and with finance, business & operations stakeholders. The successful candidate should exhibit deep passion for our consumer business, process & analytical skills, agility in managing complexity, and a growth mindset in everything we do.
