Are you passionate about operating and enhancing mission-critical security solutions that protect Amazon's vast infrastructure? The Endpoint Security Capabilities and Platform Engineering (ESCAPE) team is seeking a driven System Development Engineer to join our dynamic group. We are responsible for managing the tools and services that monitor and respond to malicious/suspicious activity across Amazon and its subsidiaries, with a focus on delivering best-in-class endpoint security solutions.

In this pivotal role, you'll be at the forefront of implementing, operating, and continuously improving our security agent services, working with both first-party and third-party security solutions. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness and reliability of our endpoint solutions, making a direct impact on the security posture of Amazon and its subsidiaries. Key job responsibilities
- Administer and optimize the deployment, configuration, and performance of our endpoint security agents across Amazon's global infrastructure and its subsidiaries.
- Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to gather and prioritize requirements, ensuring our solutions meet the evolving security needs of the business.
- Develop and maintain automated processes for the efficient management and scaling of our endpoint security services.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and drive the resolution of problems, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions.
- Leverage various monitoring and analysis tools to proactively identify and address security risks.
- Evaluate and test new capabilities to enhance our endpoint security platform.
- Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in endpoint security, contributing to the continuous improvement of our service offerings.


A day in the life
As a System Development Engineer in the ESCAPE team, you'll focus on maintaining and enhancing Amazon's endpoint security agent infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be developing new solutions to improve the team's ability to support these tools at scale. You'll collaborate with security engineers, IT, and vendors to optimize agent deployments and create innovative automation scripts. You'll analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement scalable solutions. Working closely with product owners, you'll prioritize features and plan deployments that minimize impact on Amazon's business units and subsidiaries. Key challenges include designing robust, scalable systems, improving deployment processes, and swiftly addressing issues within the supported infrastructure. Your role is crucial in evolving Amazon's endpoint security platform to meet the demands of its expanding technology landscape.

- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
