About the Role
As the Design Manager, Creative & Merchandising, you'll join the fastest-growing Asian e-grocer in the market, positioned for remarkable growth. This pivotal role will lead and transform our creative and communication design teams, driving design across merchandising, communication, and creative domains that powers our market expansion. You'll be a core contributor to our design ecosystem, with the opportunity to directly shape our brand's visual identity and strategic creative direction and grow with our team.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and develop an impactful creative design team spanning merchandising and communication design disciplines to work within our products.
- Design Strategy:
- Develop and implement design strategies aligned with brand and merchandising objectives
- Establish and evolve creative design systems ensuring visual consistency and brand integrity
- Create innovative design approaches for creative campaigns and merchandising materials
- Creative Execution:
- Direct the creation of visually excellent and compelling merchandising campaigns and art direction
- Ability to work in fast paced environments with long term thinking
- Oversee design production from operations to conceptualization to final implementation
- Deliver consistently high-quality, engaging design outcomes across multiple languages that drive brand engagement and business goals
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with marketing, product, and brand teams to align creative strategies
- Facilitate seamless communication and workflow between design and other departments
- Represent design perspective in strategic business discussions
- Team and Capability Development:
- Recruit top design talent
- Implement professional and creative development programs
- Nurture a culture of continuous learning and creative excellence
Qualifications
- 8+ years design experience, with 3+ years in a design leadership role
- Proven track record managing merchandising and communication design teams within ecommerce businesses
- Expert proficiency in design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma)
- Expert proficiency in presentations and narrating longer term visions of strategy and team workflow
- Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic design leadership and creative excellence
- Proficiency in designing for multilingual or multicultural markets is a plus. Experience creating design assets that resonate across different language and cultural contexts would be highly valued.
- Exceptional communication and team development skills
- Understanding of brand and product design systems and their relationship with brand consistency

Compensation Range
- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $113,000 - 133,000
- This role may be eligible to discretionary bonus, incentives and benefits
- Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location
