The role:
The IT & Business Control Monitoring & Testing - SoFi International and Technology Platform (2LOD) will be responsible for overseeing and executing monitoring and testing activities related to IT, cybersecurity, and business controls for the second line of defense IT risk function across our global Technology Platform business unit and operating subsidiaries (Galileo). This role is crucial for ensuring that the company’s controls are effective, compliant, and aligned with both regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
This individual will be responsible for working closely with the 1LOD technology, cybersecurity, and business teams to assess control effectiveness, identify potential weaknesses, and recommend improvements to enhance overall risk management, and requires a proven expertise in and understanding of technology risk management frameworks (NIST, ISO, COBIT), testing and monitoring of IT general controls (ITGCs), Amazon Web Services (AWS) security best practices, and the ability to quickly grasp emerging technology concepts such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Key dimensions of responsibility include ensuring we have robust controls, processes, oversight, and risk aggregation across our Technology Platform business unit to maintain the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of IT systems and data which will be accomplished in this role by developing and executing tests to assess the design and operating effectiveness of controls.

You will be a part of the second line of defense (2LOD) Technology Risk Management team, dedicated to driving risk management around our foundational technology, with a specific focus on IT and AWS environments that provide the solutions supporting our mission to help members achieve their financial ambitions. Opportunities for success will include but are not limited to the following risk activities:
- Develop and execute test plans for IT, cybersecurity, and business controls to ensure they are operating effectively and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular and ad-hoc testing of IT, cybersecurity, and business controls, documenting findings, and providing actionable recommendations to address identified control gaps and reduce residual risk.
- Work with other 2LOD partners to build cohesive control testing strategies
- Prepare detailed reports on IT, cybersecurity, and business control testing results and maintain comprehensive documentation of control monitoring and testing activities.
- Develop a comprehensive reporting mechanism for presentation of monitoring and testing results to the Board and relevant Committees.
- Identify opportunities for enhancing IT, cybersecurity, and business control processes and work with stakeholders to implement improvements.
- Proactively identify and implement testing automation and analytics to efficiently expand coverage of control monitoring.
- Implement and continuously improve automated control validation strategies.
- Assess the adequacy of technology and cybersecurity policies, standards, and processes to ensure they remain effective and up-to-date in addressing current risks.
- Evaluate new product initiatives, including emerging technologies like AI, to ensure that associated risks are adequately managed and controls are implemented.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations and industry standards that may impact control requirements.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Risk Management or equivalent professional experience.
- 3-5 years of relevant Cybersecurity, Technology, Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, or Internal Audit experience.
- Experience testing technology, cybersecurity, and business controls.
- Strong understanding of control frameworks, testing methodologies, and risk assessments.
- Ability to communicate technology, cybersecurity, and risk management concepts to both technical and non-technical partners.
- Strong understanding of risk governance and second line of defense processes used to review and challenge front line business unit risk management processes.
- Experience in banking and/or fintech industry, including regulatory experience.
- Proven success building and implementing control testing programs to evaluate the design and adequacy and effectiveness of key controls.
- Stay up to date on emerging AWS services and security features.
- Ability to quickly understand complex business and technology environments.
- Strong collaboration and partnership capabilities and ability to build and foster strong cross-functional work relationships.
Nice to have:
- AWS audit or risk management experience.
- Relevant industry certifications, for example, CISSP, CRISC, CISA, CCSK
- Familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
- Experience working with global teams, Spanish language skills
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
