Established customers are exploring new processes to generate green fuels and technologies from non-traditional sources. Equipment is being designed and developed but validating and optimizing these technologies at different scales presents a challenge for many. From relatively small-scale proof of concept tests, through pilot plant scale installations. Zeeco’s new Advanced Research Complex will be a groundbreaking investment to provide world class facilities suited for this type of industrial scale research.
This position will be the controls engineer for these new development facilities. General responsibilities include generation, design and specification of controls logic, narratives, diagrams, documentation and instrumentation. Additional responsibilities include assisting in facility process and layout design, construction and commissioning support, PLC program writing, P&ID generation, and troubleshooting/modifications during operation.
Functional Responsibilities
· Produce electrical requirements for equipment to be installed in facilities
· Pumps, blowers, compressors, heat exchangers, etc
· Applying past experience/knowledge to the design, construction and operation of the facilities
· Assist in plant layout design
· Assist in development of plant operating narratives
· Development of P&ID drawings
· Develop drawings for control panels, power distribution, and junction boxes. Included drawings are general arrangement, internal layout, schematics and interconnection and wire diagrams.
· Development of control panel BOM’s that include control enclosures, push-buttons, selector switches, relays, timers, trip alarms, purge systems and PLC's
· Develop ISA data sheets for temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters along with ISA data sheets for control valves, positioners, analytical, and various other types of instrumentation
· Develop logic diagrams in ISA format for complex logic devices such as PLC’s and DCS systems
· Prepare cable BOM’s, routing plans and schedules
· Perform inspection and test of equipment prior to operation
· Assist in facility operation to meet all customer requirements in development and testing
· Review and determine suitability of shop drawings and submittals
· Risk assessment & conflict resolution
· Travel to customer offices & facilities as required for design development, technical review, troubleshooting, etc.
· Blueprint reading
· HAZOP coordination, documentation, and implementation into facility design
· Assist in facility commissioning efforts
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (chemical or mechanical accepted with appropriate on the job experience, 5+ years in controls role)
· Experience with facility design and operation
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Ability to professionally and comfortably interact with all departments
· Ability to work in areas where temperatures and noise levels can be extreme
· Ability to work under pressure meeting deadlines
· Regular and reliable attendance
