Job Description

Remote

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states.

Waymo's Procurement and Vendor Enablement Office is a diverse, collaborative, and service-oriented group with a mission to efficiently procure indirect goods and services, build supplier relationships, and support outsourcing excellence to achieve Waymo's growth goals. The Vendor Enablement Office works across Waymo to ensure the right type of workforce is being deployed in the right locations and manages to provide service excellence. We provide oversight and are responsible for the strategy, governance and lifecycle operations across our temporary staff and outsourced services workforce. The team implements programs, provides processes, sets policies and manages governance to make it easier and less risky for Waymonauts to successfully engage with an extended workforce.

You will report to our Head of Procurement Risk and Operations and will be based remotely from the United States.

In this role you'll:

  • Manage Waymo's extended workforce access program: This includes leading projects to mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with Alphabet's security policies, and implementing access control measures.
  • Partner with technical leads, tool owners, and vendor managers to gather requirements, conduct risk assessments, and provide recommendations for access.
  • Identify and address vulnerabilities in tooling and processes to strengthen security and prevent data breaches.
  • Develop training materials, automate reports and dashboards, and communicate program decisions and updates to team members.

At a minimum, we'd like you to have:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years of experience managing technical programs in access management, tool provisioning, or vendor management, with a proven track record of strategy, design, execution, and measurement of large-scale programs. This includes fluency in project planning, dependency identification, and cross-functional execution, while also driving process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes, and frameworks related to extended workforce access, including managing access requests, provisioning tools, and ensuring compliance with security standards.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and complex workflows. This includes utilizing ticketing systems and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.

It's preferred if you have:

  • Experience managing complex programs with multiple partners across teams
  • Approaches challenges with a holistic thinking mindset, analyzing problems from multiple perspectives to develop effective solutions.
  • Hands-on experience identifying technical problems, and driving complete cycle of problem discovery to solution and execution
  • Convey technical information and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, even when not a subject matter expert. Ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding of complex topics
  • Conveys information and ideas in both written and verbal formats, collaborating with colleagues, team members, and external partners.
