The Community You Will Join:

We are looking for a senior business insights analyst in our Analytics Centre of Excellence who works in the insights team. The analyst must have functional expertise in building analytical solutions and be a trusted partner to our product teams and business leaders, operations team through providing insights, recommendations, and enabling data driven decisions. This role will sit under the Business insights family and support product and business leaders within our Payments Products and payments operations organization.

  • Work with technical and business teams to develop robust insights, create data narratives and leverage Airbnb’s rich data to define metrics.
  • Build business insights capabilities, passionate about solving complex problems with data; adding  a new perspective to existing solutions and making business decisions based on careful and thoughtful analysis.
  • You work independently with minimal supervision and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • You have a strong sense of urgency for and commitment to Airbnb’s mission of belonging.
  • Develop a deep understanding of how guests and hosts interact with our platform and how we can provide differentiated support and experience to our customers, by analyzing data from structured and unstructured sources.

A Typical Day:

  • Own projects from start to end with occasional direction; building out timelines, key milestones, providing regular updates to business stakeholders, analytics management and delivery against agreed timelines.
  • Ensure the availability of data quality and data integrity for analysis and reporting, working closely with global operations and India analytics functions.
  • Generate reports and analysis, provide consultation and lead cross-functional teams to address business issues.
  • Lead ad-hoc reporting, data investigations, uncover root causes,  prioritize demands and  identify opportunities for the business, considering the long-term goals and objectives.
  • Understand and solve business problems within assigned scope using relevant analytical tools and techniques, including descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics.
  • Build deep business context and become a trusted advisor to the business for tactical and strategic initiatives.
  • Impact projects at the executive team level and influence strategy and roadmap decisions.
  • Define how to best measure the performance of Airbnb product and business through new metrics and dimensions. Align with stakeholders, understand tradeoffs and guardrails, and be a member of the business partner leadership team actively participating in key decision-making processes.
  • Present and drive ideations, solutions, and progress updates to the business stakeholders.
  • Set a roadmap for projects up to 3 months ahead, after consulting with the team manager considering timelines and resources.

Your Expertise:

  • 4+ years in industry experience and a degree (Masters or  PhD is a plus) in a quantitative field.
  • Expert communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams in a cross-cultural and cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to conduct rigorous analysis and communicate conclusions to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience partnering with internal teams to drive action and providing expertise and direction on analytics, data science, experimental design, and measurement.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, self-motivation and ability to work autonomously, strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with EDA, hypothesis testing, significance testing, linear regression, logistic regression, SVM, ridge regression, lasso regression, random forest, basic concepts of NLP, KNN, K-Means, A/B testing, multivariate testing, and digital funnel testing.
  • Intermediate to advanced level proficiency in SQL, Tableau/Power BI, and data warehouses/data lakes such as Presto, Hive, Teradata, Spark, etc.
  • Advanced level expertise in presentation tools like Keynote, Google Slides, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced level proficiency in Python, including libraries such as NLTK, spaCy, scikit-learn, and pandas.
  • Hands-on experience in text classification, sentiment analysis, topic modeling, and named entity recognition (NER), proficiency in building and deploying machine learning models and analyzing unstructured data such as textual data, including social media, customer feedback, and reviews.
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems, deep learning models for NLP tasks, such as transformers (e.g., BERT, GPT).
  • Knowledge of automation tools such as Airflow or Luigi.
