What You'll Do

Epic Games is looking for a Cosmetic Render Art Director to drive the creative development of all new Fortnite cosmetic renders. These renders are critical assets used in the store, frontend UI, and in-game HUD, and are major drivers of cosmetic revenue. This person will have a balance of creative and strategic thinking, and a strong ability to lead internal and external teams to develop content for our various products.

In this role, you will

• Work closely with internal and external production teams to produce high fidelity renders in Unreal Engine 5 that promote new outfits, vehicles, items, and other cosmetic and gameplay items
• Collaborate with the Art, Store, Consumer, and other multidisciplinary teams to define the creative approach for cosmetic renders
• Provide feedback to animators, lighters and other CGl artists to improve and finalize high resolution renders for outfits, accessories, weapons, vehicles, and other in-game assets
• Work with artists both internal to Epic Games and at outsourcing studios to maintain a high quality bar for all produced assets
• Establish relationships with key stakeholders on the Art, Production, Consumer, and Finance teams to drive prioritization and inform effective resource management
• Work closely with lead artists and the Pipeline Development team to design tools and techniques that improve the quality and efficiency of the cosmetic render pipeline

What we're looking for

• Experience as an art or creative director in a relevant creative field, and a portfolio of work that demonstrates that experience
• Deep knowledge of the 3D content creation process and CG art disciplines
• Be an expert with the tools in Unreal Engine 5
• Complete understanding of color, composition, and visual storytelling
• Strong familiarity with modern pop culture, diverse art styles, and visual appeal, as well as the Fortnite and Epic brand
• Strong leadership skills to lead a large number of people toward a singular vision, a collaborative nature, and a desire to partner with leads across the organization
• Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills & experience with effective feedback for outsourcing and contractors
• Ability to do draw-overs for posing and lighting
• Experience directing and supporting artists across multiple disciplines
• The ability to adapt to and respond to a quickly changing environment, while remaining calm, objective, and goal-oriented
