The Item and Offers team is responsible for a variety of services that form a core part of the Amazon eCommerce platform. We are primarily responsible for developing the services that process all of the Item information from millions of merchants who want to sell through the Amazon family of websites. Our expertise lies in managing billions of products in the catalog and developing large scale distributed systems that process hundreds of millions of changes to the catalog every day in real time. The team offers a unique blend of hard computer science problems and an opportunity to help the businesses model their new ideas.

Successful candidates are passionate about translating high-level, ambiguous business goals to software platforms that enable multiple businesses. You are comfortable taking initiative and working along side top-notch software developers and work on cross-team projects.


Key job responsibilities
An SDE II on the IMS Platform team designs, implements and supports the high-availability Plugin Platform, data publish/persistence and other auxiliary services. They design simple, scalable and innovative solutions to evolve the platform to meet growing business needs. They are responsible for delivering testable, maintainable, and efficient code following a proper Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology. They are excellent in operational support to ensure that the platform operates smoothly to meet our SLAs. They are expected to work efficiently with partners and customers to meet project commitments. They help onboard new members and continue to raise the bar for the team. In addition, they can effectively communicate complex technical solutions to peers and senior engineers across the organization, driving change within the team to build the right solution for our customer.

About the team
IMS-P (Item Master Service Platform) team owns Plugin Platform, Bifrost Service, IMS (Item Master Service) Datamart. The Plugin Platform enables catalog enrichers to integrate their REST services as plugins in IMS and build authoritative Amazonโ€™s catalog that is complete, consistent and correct. It greatly simplifies enricher onboarding effort and time to launch compared to previous methods of integrating with IOP's Contribution and Item processing. With 30+ plugins launched, each month it processes 50B attribute enrichments, and 50M attribute & contribution suppressions. Bifrost service stores catalog ingestion related customer and marketplace data and vends it to ASCS systems for catalog processing. IMS Datamart provides a scalable and efficient way to query IMS logs and perform analytics. - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
