The Learning & Development (L&D) Manager is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining instructor-led (in-person or remote) trainings for our World-Wide Operations (WWOps) leaders. This role is critical in shaping the leadership development experience of this population, playing a pivotal role in optimizing the learning experience to ensure they are well-equipped to effectively support their team and the operation.
This person strategically builds strong business relationships, collaborating with Program Managers (PMs), Learning Business Partners (LBPs), Instructional Designers (IDs), business and program analysts, and WWOPs business leaders to deliver learning outcomes that solve team/organizational needs.
This person effectively prioritizes and deploys facilitated sessions, establishes metrics, and observes facilitators during sessions. The L&D Manager sets and balances team goals to optimize performance and effectively provides feedback and coaching to direct reports, developing talent and supporting career development.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead the design and implementation of innovative learning objectives, modality, and content within continuous learning programs.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of high-quality learning content and curriculum.
• Collaborate with business partners to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of the materials.
• Coordinate program delivery on a global scale, considering diverse needs and languages.
• Ensure that programs are accessible, engaging, and optimized regardless of delivery mode.
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program success and impact.
• Use data and analytics to continuously assess and improve the learning offerings.
• Collaborate with various stakeholders, including HR, Operations, and Training teams, to understand learner requirements and incorporate feedback in the design and continuous improvement phases of a product.
• Manage the budget allocated, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
• Oversee external vendors and internal resources as needed to deliver high-quality learning solutions.
• Develop strategies to drive the adoption of new learning initiatives and champion change management processes to ensure behavior changes are realized.
• Communicate program progress, updates, and outcomes to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree or 2 years of Amazon Operations experience
• 6+ years’ experience using business metrics, metrics, and training data to track, trend, and manage impact of training efforts
• 6+ years’ experience understanding how training contributes to the company’s bottom line.
• Program and project management skills in a matrix organization, including managing details, keeping multiple tasks/projects on track, and influencing others • Experience in talent management; basic understanding of the fundamentals of talent management principles and processes and integration of learning programs to maximize organization performance.
• Instructional Design or equivalent experience such that adult learning principals guide program development and iteration
• Experience developing presentations and training materials
• Experience formulating and implementing learning and performance improvement strategies, methodologies, and procedures for standardization and delivery throughout the organization
• Proven ability to problem solve while interacting with class participants, the Operations team, senior leaders, and other stakeholders to drive learning solutions
• Proven work experiences in the areas of management/leadership development, organization development, client consultation, large group facilitation, training and training design; or equivalent business experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $126,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $208,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
