Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Communications to join our growing Communications team, holistically executing external and internal communications across Tempus. This role offers the opportunity to expand awareness, execute strategy, create engaging content, collaborate with businesses throughout the organization, and shape and manage the Tempus brand across a variety of channels.

Responsibilities:

External Communications

  • Draft and distribute press releases
  • Partner with Marketing and the Commercial organization regarding Tempus’ strategic collaborations as well as representation at conferences throughout the year to achieve PR goals
  • Support Tempus’ media relations activity by regularly pitching and liaising with both local and national healthcare and business media
  • Partner with any external Communications agencies hired by Tempus to execute a coordinated media relations strategy
  • Secure speaking engagements for leadership at key thought leadership events throughout the year
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team on the creation and execution of integrated campaigns around our products and scientific research
  • Manage the Tempus thought leadership opportunities, curating compelling content around timely topics and issues to be published on Tempus’ website as well as external outlets
  • Draft and handle submissions for specific awards (i.e. FastCompany’s Most Innovative Companies)
  • Collaborate with the Senior Social Media Lead to ensure external communications efforts are being represented across key platforms
  • Regular interaction with Tempus’ leadership team across the organization

Internal Communications

  • Plan and execute the Tempus’ quarterly All Hands schedule, including planning the content, managing speakers, and executing all on-site logistics of the presentation
  • Draft and distribute company announcements and updates through a variety of internal channels
  • Partner with the People Operations and Legal teams to plan, draft, and distribute timely news and updates across the company

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in either public relations, media relations and/or corporate communications
  • Strong pitching skills, with experience securing tone-setting stories in top healthcare and business media outlets
  • Exceptional writing skills with in-depth knowledge of AP Style
  • Managing a strategic external and internal communications calendar, balancing a number of competing priorities
  • Demonstrates confidence and has a strong executive presence

Required Education & Experience:

  • BA in communications or journalism
  • Deep expertise in PR/media relations with at least 4 years of experience in either in-house or at a PR agency
  • Established relationships with top healthcare journalists at outlets like STAT News, Fierce Healthcare, Business Insider, and etc. 
  • Experience securing and facilitating speaking opportunities for leaders at top business and healthcare industry conferences
  • Passion for working in a fast-paced environment that is constantly changing

The expected salary range below is applicable if the role is performed from [Illinois] and may vary for other locations. Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits, depending on the position.

Illinois Pay Range
$100,000$160,000 USD
