Job Description

Remote

We’re looking for a Security Operations Manager to be part of our Security department.

Jobber exists to help people in small businesses be successful. We work with small home service businesses, like your local plumbers, painters, and landscapers, to transform the way service is delivered through technology. With Jobber they can quote, schedule, invoice, and collect payments from their customers, while providing an easy and professional customer experience. Running a small business today isn’t like it used to be—the way we consume and deliver service is changing rapidly, technology is evolving, and customers expect more. That’s why we put the power and flexibility in their hands to run their businesses how, where, and when they want!

Our culture of transparency, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation has been recognized by Great Place to Work, Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, and more. Jobber has also been named on the Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies list, and Deloitte Canada’s Technology Fast 50™, Enterprise Fast 15, and Technology Fast 500™ lists. With an Executive team that has over thirty years of industry experience of leading the way, we’ve come a long way from our first customer in 2011—but we’ve just scratched the surface of what we want to accomplish for our customers.

The team:

Jobber’s Security team is led by our Senior Director of Security and is structured into multiple specialized teams, including Security Operations, Trust Operations, and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC). As we scale our capabilities, we’re evolving into a team of teams — each with clear ownership, deep expertise, and shared accountability for securing Jobber’s platform, people, and processes.

The Security Operations team focuses on alert triage and response, managing our bug bounty program, and developing internal security tooling to support cloud and endpoint visibility. As Jobber’s infrastructure evolves, we’re placing greater emphasis on cloud-native automation, security integrations, and enabling secure-by-default practices across Engineering and IT.

We work in close partnership with Product Development, IT, and GRC — and prioritize transparency, pragmatism, and continuous learning across all functions.

The role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically strong individual to join our team as a Security Operations Manager (12 month contract). Your primary focus will be leading and advancing security operations, with an emphasis on building security tooling, automations, and integrations that support Jobber’s infrastructure and evolving security needs. In this role, you will report directly to the Manager, Security Operations and will play a pivotal part in strengthening our operational security capabilities during a critical growth phase.

This is a 12-month contract role with an opportunity to extend into a full-time, permanent position. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by building scalable systems, supporting foundational projects like DLP and SIEM, and reducing operational dependencies on Engineering teams. You’ll work closely with the broader Security team and across departments to ensure that security operations are resilient, proactive, and aligned with Jobber’s expanding technology footprint.

The Security Operations Manager will:

  • Lead the implementation and integration of key security initiatives, including DLP, SIEM, and internal security tooling.
  • Build and maintain automation pipelines to streamline alert triage, vulnerability tracking, and incident workflows.
  • Own and improve security integrations with AWS, GCP, Azure, and SaaS tools, reducing manual workload and enabling scalable monitoring.
  • Triage and respond to cloud security alerts, focusing on AWS, with manual security reviews for GCP and Azure environments.
  • Act as a technical resource for security incidents, providing rapid triage, response coordination, and technical expertise.
  • Advance Jobber’s Bug Bounty Program by assessing reports and coordinating fixes with development teams.
  • Build internal documentation, playbooks, and workflows to support security operations and tool adoption.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Junior SecOps team members, ensuring a strong knowledge transfer for long-term sustainability.

To be successful, you should have:

  • Strong technical background in infrastructure security, cloud environments (AWS primarily, Azure and GCP nice to have), and security operations.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining security automations and integrations (e.g., scripting, serverless functions, APIs).
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM and DLP technologies, cloud-native security tooling, and vulnerability management platforms.
  • Ability to work independently, build from scratch, and drive projects forward without extensive oversight.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented, systems-thinking approach to securing complex environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable insights.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • A passion for innovation, learning, and staying ahead of security trends, especially around AI and cloud security.

It would be nice (but not a deal-breaker) if you had:

  • Hands-on experience securing AWS environments using tools like GuardDuty, Security Hub, IAM Access Analyzer.
  • Experience with security tooling across multi-cloud environments (GCP, Azure) even in a manual governance model.
  • Scripting and automation experience (Python, Bash, Terraform, or serverless functions).
  • Startup mindset: ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and solve ambiguous problems creatively.

Hiring Process:

  • Talent team member interview (45m)
  • Hiring Manager interview (60m)
  • Take-home assignment with a follow-up Functional interview (90m)
  • Leadership interview (30m)

This is a remote-first position and all interviews are conducted virtually—via phone or video.

Compensation:

At Jobber, we believe that compensation should be transparent, fair, and supportive of your experience and growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $98,300, a midpoint of $115,700, and a maximum salary of $133,100, designed to reflect the progression from learning the ropes to truly excelling.

We design our compensation to reflect each new hire's skills, experience, and the complexity of the role, ensuring a fair and competitive salary. Our range is intentionally broad to support growth and long-term impact, with fully established hires typically starting around the midpoint. The higher end of the range is reserved for those who have demonstrated deep expertise and lasting contributions, while offers below the midpoint reflect strong potential with room to develop. This approach ensures that compensation aligns with both an individual's current capabilities and their opportunity for future growth.

We believe in transparency and open conversations about compensation. If you have any questions about our approach, we're happy to discuss them throughout the hiring process!

As this is a contract position, it is not eligible for specific benefits as part of our total compensation and rewards package. More information will be provided as part of the interview process.

What you can expect from Jobber:

  • A total compensation package that includes an extended health benefits package with fully paid premiums for both body and mind, retirement savings plan matching, and stock options.
  • A dedicated Talent Development team and access to coaching, learning, and leadership programs to help you grow your career, reach your goals, and unlock your full potential.
  • Support for all your breaks: from vacation to rest and recharge, your birthday off to celebrate, health days to support your physical and mental health, and parental leave top-ups to support your growing family.
  • A unique opportunity to build, grow, and leave your impact on a $400-billion industry that has no dominant player...yet.
  • To work with a group of people who are humble, supportive, and give a sh*t about our customers.

We believe that diverse teams perform better and that fostering an inclusive work environment is a key part of growing a successful team. We welcome people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to working with applicants requesting accommodation at any stage of the hiring process.
