ROLE OVERVIEW:
Skillsoft is currently seeking a highly qualified Principal Product Manager to join the Skills Central Platform Team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of upskilling, HCM and Talent mobility solutions. The Product Manager is responsible for driving and managing product releases based on the needs of customers and the business. This includes providing guidance on product dependencies, prioritizing needs, and making tradeoff decisions that impact releases. The Product Manager collaborates with leadership responsible for defining the scope of present and future products and will work closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, User Experience Design, Marketing Communications, Sales, Customer Support and Consulting Technical Services departments.
OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS and Key RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with management and other product owners to build a comprehensive product strategy
Drive innovation by leveraging AI and other advanced technologies to enhance the user experience and deliver personalized learning pathways
Establish and track key performance metrics to measure the success of product initiatives and inform future decisions
Actively manage and maintain the product roadmap and backlog of user stories
Research, document and drive changes to products including new features, minor enhancements, and defects
Participate in an Agile process with Engineering and QA to manage and groom the backlog of work, refine requirements, estimate work effort and plan day-to-day product development activities
Participate in acceptance testing for every release
Collaborate with User Experience Designers to help build a UX strategy, develop feature-level designs, and usability testing
Assist in conducting market research and analysis of competitive landscape
Contribute to and review product release notes, user manuals and training material
Work with cross-functional teams to help develop and implement a go-to-market plan
Support product release activities including release planning, product training, demonstrations, and customer presentations
Provide on-going product support to direct sales and channel sales organizations helping them to understand product positioning and key benefits
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of SAAS platforms and a solid grasp of AI-driven solutions, and data analytics. Use of AI for productivity and efficiency in day-to-day work.
Strategic Thinking: The ability to align product strategies with overall business goals while identifying opportunities for growth.
Communication and Presentation Skills: Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential for successful collaboration; ability to represent concepts visually; written, verbal, organizational skills.
Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with agile practices helps manage iterative development and rapid prototyping.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, driving collaboration and achieving results.
Innovation Mindset: Passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with a keen interest in emerging technologies and industry trends.
Demonstratable Competency in:
Product execution – feature specification, quality assurance and acceptance, product delivery and go-to-market commercialization.
Customer insight – fluency with data, UX design principles and best practices, voice of customer
Product strategy – product vision and road mapping, strategic impact
Influencing people – stakeholder management, team leadership, managing up
Minimum 8+ years of experience as a SAAS Product Manager in a technology-driven field, preferably with direct exposure to talent lifecycle solutions.
Ability to work in fast-paced, entrepreneurial start-up environment.
Experience with JIRA, Confluence or other Agile software development tools is desired.
Experience working with virtual teams is desired.
