Director of Engineering, Client Platforms

What you’ll do:

NinjaTrader is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our web, mobile, and desktop teams. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will define and execute the technical strategy for our client platforms, working collaboratively with Product, Design, Analytics, and Customer Success teams. Your leadership will have a transformative impact on our growing customer base and help revolutionize the trading experience for our passionate retail trading community.

In this role, you will:

• Lead and inspire: Manage multiple engineering managers, fostering a high-performing organization and cultivating a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, quality, and reliability
• Develop talent: Attract, retain, and develop top-tier talent to build exceptional engineering teams that deliver delightful trading experiences
• Set strategic direction: Define and execute the technical roadmap for NinjaTrader's client platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high uptime
• Collaborate across functions: Partner with Marketing, Sales, Strategy, Product, and Customer Success teams to drive data-driven decision-making and user growth
• Work closely with the CTO to shape and refine the overarching engineering strategy

What you'll need:

• Experience: 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3–5 years in leadership roles managing multiple engineering managers. Proven success in building and leading geographically distributed teams
• Technical expertise: Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, Go) and frameworks. Experience with modern front-end and back-end technologies, mobile performance optimization, and web development at scale
• Vision: Deep understanding of mobile and web development challenges and excitement about delivering an exceptional trading platform to millions of users
• Leadership and collaboration: Ability to navigate ambiguity, build relationships, and drive cross-functional collaboration to achieve business goals. Experience in early-stage product development and balancing trade-offs
• Analytical skills: Strong analytical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and technical expertise, with a proven ability to leverage data for decision-making
• Communication: Excellent consultative and collaborative skills, with the ability to translate complex business challenges into actionable insights and clearly communicate results
• Industry knowledge: Familiarity with financial services regulations and compliance is a plus
• Mindset: High adaptability, humility, and comfort with the fast-paced, dynamic nature of a startup environment. Operates with a strong sense of ownership and accountability

Compensation:

The annual salary for this role is $200,000 - 250,000 USD. In addition, this position will also receive an annual target bonus of up to 15%. Bonus pay at NinjaTrader is based on individual performance (50%) as well as company/team performance (50%).
