Flow Traders is looking for a Junior Technical Support Engineer to join our Infrastructure team in our Amsterdam office. The ideal candidate is self-starter, quick learner and has strong process orientation. In this role, you will provide first level technical assistance & support to users in our Amsterdam office. You will be responsible for basic troubleshooting of user workstations, setting up desks for new employees, and managing office resources such as printers and televisions. The engineer will serve as the first point of contact for the infrastructure team, whilst working closely together with senior members of the team, as well as other departments within the overall IT department.
What You Will Do
- Assist with desk moves & builds including physical installation of PCs, screens, headsets, webcams, associated peripherals
- Run and terminate cables for new network and hardware installations
- Serve as the first point of contact for end-user technical assistance over the phone, e-mail, chat, or our Jira ticketing system
- Perform troubleshooting on end-user workstations & office utilities, such printers, televisions, security-related appliances
- Work with the senior members of the team who will provide mentorship and in-house training in power systems, networking, infrastructure, HVAC, audio visual, servers and workstations
- Escalate issues and incidents to next level of support, including other IT teams
- Ensure storerooms are in order & take responsibility for inventory management
- Coordinate feedback and/or suggestions provided by end-users to appropriate internal teams
- Identify and suggest possible improvements on solutions and procedures
- Document best-practices
What You Need to Succeed
- 1 to 3 years' experience in a similar role or suitable internships during your education
- Ability to work under pressure
- Analytical problem-solving skills to troubleshoot hardware and software issues
- Good understanding of computer hardware, peripherals & Windows software
- Experience as help desk technician, or similar position is a plus
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Excellent communication skills & proficiency in English
- Customer-oriented, flexible and cool-tempered
- Basic understanding or willingness to learn about network and firewall basics
